Shooting through a lens backwards

So I was messing around with my camera while bored at work today. I decided to see what happened if I held the lens up backwards and it's fucking awesome. Set your focal length to infinity, and get within a couple inches of what you want to shoot. Basically you turn whatever lens you use into a macro lens. I'm sure this isn't the first time anyone's done this so to some of you this is old news.

I'll post some pictures shortly.

I have a hunch this won't work with all lenses so let everybody know what works and what doesn't. I think a manual aperture ring might be necessary but I'm not certain yet.

Definitely works with a Nikkor 50mm 1.4D

 
Be careful obviously guys, don't fuck up your lens/shutter.

Yeah found out about those about 30 seconds after this thread haha. Seems like a cheap way to get into macro
