Shooting squads

i was just reading something on that dude who is trying to get his death penalty (by firing squad) on friday held off, and i wanted to see if anyone could give me a good reason why we would kill someone with a firing squad rather than, say, lethal injection? they only do it in utah but personally i feel like it's sort of an archaic way to kill someone.. and messy.

any thoughts?

yeah im pretty sure youre right, they get a choice. but still, why is it even a choice? and further, who on earth would rather be shot 4 times than get a lethal injection??
 
it's definately a more badass way to go then by getting some junk chemical injected into your veins....
 
I'd rather be shot, itd be super quick lethal injection would be scary as fuck waiting for the needle and feeling it go in. Fuck that shit.
 
imagine if you could choose any method you wanted the way you can choose your last dinner. like you could request to be buried up to your neck in sand, and have a cobra strike you right in the face, so you could see death coming at you..
 
i thought it was the other way around, and only one had a blank so they could all think hey maybe i didnt shoot the dude
 
yeah but it would be a quick end, like 4 shots in the face/heart your done. Id rather be blindfolded not see a thing and get it done with. Ill never be put to death because im Canadian and were a little more humane, no offense. But seeing death coming on the tip of a needle would freak me the fuck out.
 
imagine if theyd let you jump off an enormous cliff into the grand canyon or something. thats free besides maybe some gas money to get there..
 
Why wouldnt you want to go by firing squad?

If I had to choose over lethal injection, the noose, electric chair, or decapitation then firing squad definately sounds more appealing. Its quick, painless (for the most part) and there is zero suffering involved.

The chance of him not dying from 4 or 5 5.56 rounds at 15 yards to the torso/head is extremely low.

Plus bullets are cheap.
 
same can be said for lethal injection right? what puts you off about the lethal injection?

by the way gas chamber seems like a weird one. i dont think id like that one.

i know one thing for sure. i would hate to be in the firing squad. that would feel so shitty to be standing there knowing youre about to shoot some dude standing 20ft away, no matter what he may have done
 
i saw this on the news and what gonna happen:

4 shooter behind a wall with lookouts in it for the guns

One shooter will have a blank in his gun

there is a target over the prisoners heart

and the prisoner will have a hood over his head
 
They don't 100% know if lethal injection is painless. Also firing squad all your organs are intact and can be donated (besides your heart), I believe, but I'm not sure, that lethal injection destroys most if not all your organs.
 
well, i'll most likely never be in the position to make that decision

but i hate needles and a shot to the head is a fairly instant way to go
 
i want to die a fun way like hitting an insane booter and float into so much pow and then just drown in so much pow i can breath and then die fast not painfully lol...
 
chosing ur way to die would be a nice way to go

maybe like skydive no parchute

summer set up into grand canyon

run through obsticle corse of lava

fight grizzly bears with your hands
 
maybe they could lend them to the producers of the Saw movies as stunt doubles.

nah fuck that. I wouldn't want to watch saw anymore if they did that.
 
^ i was watching a special on prisoners on death row and one was complaining that they give you a certain amount of sedative to knock you out before they administer the Chlorophyll (i think its chlorophyll) , but he was scared he was bigger than the dose of sedative given that knocks you out. he was scared he would be able to feel the poison at work paralyzing him and all his organs failing. bcause the anesthetic is to low...scary stuff to think
 
yeah if the drugs arnt administered in like the perfect amount the guy goes into cardiac arrest which is a super painful way to die
 
1.Sodium thiopental: ultra-short action barbiturate, an anaesthetic agent capable of rendering the offender unconscious in a few seconds.

2.Pancuronium: non-depolarizing muscle relaxant, causes complete, fast and sustained paralysis of the skeletal striated muscles, including the diaphragm and the rest of the respiratory muscles; this would eventually cause death by asphyxiation.

3.Potassium chloride: stops the heart, and thus causes death by cardiac arrest

In washington prisoners still have the option to die by hanging. Some prisoner requested to and they wouldn't let him because he was too overweight and the hanging would decapitate him, which they considered cruel and unusual punishment... his execution was pushed way back because of the whole controversy trial thing though, which was probably the point of the whole thing.
 
i was just looking at something on the subject, and actually, the prospect of getting to be in the squad is so popular to the officers of the dept that they have to have a lottery to see who gets to do it... talk about rednecks
