Shooting At Va Tech

and gun control won't do shit in these situations (or other situations, really); even if gun control is wicked strict, when a criminal wants a gun, they'll get one.

word gun control wont do shit it will just make people go to other people to buy guns. its jsut like buying drugs there illegal but you can walk down the stret and find atleast a few people who deal

It's just so hard to beleive that someone is that messed up that they can kill that many people. It makes me sick. One kid decides to be a moron and make it living hell for the people that have to live without their loved ones everyday. I also feel sorry for the shooters family, as they had nothing to do with it but still lost someone. How many people died at columbine that shooting a long time ago? anyone remmeber?

i heard that the shooter put the ppl in line and shot them one by one and if this is true could u just imagine standing there knowing your next

biggest shooting in US history. crazy cuz i live only an hour from VT so its really awkward. especially after the sniper shootings that happened in the VA/DC/MD area fall '04

man idk about that. i mean if i was in a line and people were getting shot. RUN!! i mean, if your going to get shot anyways, you might as well try to run at least your chances are better of surviving...

A suicidal person (like the shooter) will not necessarily go out of his way to illegally get a gun, unlike a bank robber or drug dealer.

I think bringing up gun control is appropriate in those situations, it's the only way people can realize there is a problem with gun ownership and some individuals.

I don't mean to turn this thread into a social argument, and I think it's certainly appropriate to realize there's a problem with some individuals' gun ownership, but I do not think gun control is the answer. The simple fact that when England outlawed handguns and the violent crime rate rose 91 percent in the next three years is convincing enough to me that strict gun regulations are not the answer. Virtually every study ever done on the matter shows that the violent crime rate goes up as with gun regulations.

Yeah, how do you know who to sell guns to? These people look like you and me, I mean Jeffrey Dahmer looked normal but we couldn't have known he was drilling through peoples skulls before it was too late. Guns will always be a problem and there is nothing we can do about it.

yeah they ask the worst questions, like after sports losses

"why did your players not do well?"

but yeah my heart and prayers to all the people shot and at the school :(

this sucks

Being that they don't even know who the shooter is or what his situation is, there's absolutely NO WAY to say that gun control would help in this situation or even that he/she was suicidal. Just because he/she DID kill themselves, there are probably an incredible amount of circumstances that would cause it and not necessarily mean he/she was suicidal to begin with.

Also, why do you say that somebody like this is less likely to go out and find a gun? What proof do you have of this claim? This sort of thing and many other crimes can be caused by different reasons, including depression or other mental illnesses, therefore saying that this situation, alone, is a situation in which a shooter would be less likely (or more likely) to obtain a gun in any particular way.

No, I can only imagine a guy killing 31 people in a single room is with a machine gun spraying into a crowd of people, sadly.

people kill people guns dont do it. so lets not get on the get rid of guns shit cause god knows i aint never doin that.

This is terrible. Good vibes goes out to everyone. I had a shooting Outside my house last year at Dawson college. That was Scary.... I hope the families get the help they needed. And I dont know if you can regulate insane people. these people just go nuts

drugs are completly banned in the US but still 80% of highschoolers smoke pot, who says its not going to be that easy with guns.

And the republicans are already using this as a way to blame video games, movies, etc.

Don't try to blame just one side. Every political party uses these tragedies to their advantage. It's downright sad, but don't be biased and not realize republicans do the same damn thing.

This is absolutly disgusting. I heard about this at school and was just thinking to myself all day "wtf is wrong with someone that you could just kill 32 without any reason". This is terrible.

seriously... put yourself aside for a second. at least for today... i have a friend who goes there and find this completely disrespectful.

im a senior in hs and a friend of mine was shot once in the stomach and once in the head..stable but not sure how she'll recover...not that she's more important than any other person injured/killed, it just strikes real hard

in our prayers VT

The Columbine High School massacre occurred on Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in unincorporated Jefferson County, Colorado, near Denver and Littleton. Two teenage students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, carried out a shooting rampage, killing 12 students and a teacher, as well as wounding 24 others, before committing suicide. It is the third-deadliest school shooting in United States history, after the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings and the 1966 University of Texas massacre.

Wikipedia already has it up. This is so horrible. RIP to the victims.

honestly, i would rather read peoples true opinions about the matter than scroll through 500 "RIP" posts. No one is disrespecting anyone. NS is just a good place to have semi intelligent discussions about peoples opinions. Especially on matters like this.

all i gotta say is if someone pulled a gun and started shooting people in my class id grab a chair or something and just throw that shit at him and fuckin curb stomp that bitch

Virginia Tech is gonna have a lot of explaining to do. Apparently the shooter had killed two people in the dorm rooms and then there was a substantial amount of time before he went killing in the engineering building. After discovering the dorm room shootings the Virginia Tech hotline advised students to "proceed with caution". It is gonna be a shitstorm for the school for a very long time. And it should, because I have 7 friends who go to Tech and luckily they all survived, but the majority of my day has been spent finding out if they were okay, and I still have this awful feeling in my stomach since I heard what happened. So sad...

Please pray for everyone and their families.
