Shoe insoles as footbeds?

What are we talking like the insoles out of your old vans or the trim to fit style you can buy in the store? The latter could work potentially using the insole in your boot as a template for trimming. This might increase comfort and possibly have a marginal impact on stability but it's a crapshoot.

I have tried everything from cardboard shipments to decrease volume, to normal shoe insoles. Im generally a cheap skate.

It it doesn’t work, nor will it ever.

Eventually you you will have to bite the bullet and get custom footbeds.

Gel insoles do not provide support as customs do

okay im gonna get custom footbeds next szn. i just have shitty stock footbeds in my boots now and i was wondering if it would work of not

Maybe. I had a boot fitter advise me to put two pairs of insoles in my boots to take up space. It was an improvement over what I had before but like shin-bang I ended up eventually buying a smaller shell and some custom insoles.

I've always run a superfoot insole in my boot. It fills the boot up a little bit & gives me some extra arch support. But it definitly is not the same as a custom footbed.

Superfeet or something of the sort is usually better that nothing but won't be as dialed as a custom footbed. That being said, I've been happy with my superfeet and haven't really seen the need to drop 150+ on a snazzy custom bed. Everybody's foot is different tho

Are you serious?

I guess I'm going to play devils advocate, but this is just my experience.

I have a pair of insoles from winter boots, adidas actually, that I have had in my hawx xtds all season. I needed a little more lift when I had the stock insoles in, so I just did some trial and error until I found the insole that fit right. Obviously a custom foot bed would be better but I haven't had any issues with my current setup.

It could be worth a shot if you have some old insoles laying around that have molded to your feet, but I'm not making any guarantees haha.

PS: the insoles I use are a dense foam l, if you use gel they will freeze and make weird ridges that will destroy your feet
