Shittiest day at the hill

So today I went to the hill to go skiing. I got to the hill 2 hours late cause I was busy putting music on my phone. I get to the hill, then eat lunch when I get there so I don't have to go inside soon after. After I eat lunch, I go for like 1 or 2 runs, and out of nowhere start to feel like complete shit after a tiny wipeout. My head starts pounding, I get all dizzy, and get a crazy bad stomach ache and feel like throwing up, and them get all hot and sweaty. I go for one more run then go back inside, take my jacket off, and sit there for like half an hour feeling terrible, just a crazy bad stomach ache, dizzy, hot, and tired. I finally go to the washrooms cause I think I'm gonna throw up, but end up taking a shiy instead. So I'm sitting in the stall for like another half an hour, taking a shit but still feeling like I have to throw up, and out of nowhere I start hearing rushing water. I look down, and sure enough the urinal beside the stall is overflowing like crazy and flooding the floor while I'm beside it taking a shit. My pants get soaked on the bottom. I stand up and roll up my pant leg so I can finish my shit. While all that was happening, my friend fucking phones me. I tell him I'm in the washroom. I finally wipe my ass and get up, still feeling like throwing up and really dizzy. I wash my hands and go out of the washrooms so other people can go. I'm sitting on a bench just outside of the washrooms and the owner of the hill walks by. He asks me if I'm ok, and I just say I feel really sick and dizzy. He goes to get ski patrol to come check if I have a concussion. They come and check me out, but I don't have a concussion. After all that was over I went home and now I'm sitting in my bed typing this still feeling sick.

So NS, tell me your story of your shittiest day at the hill

Today i went to my hill 2 times to talk to the owner about my pass, the guy is dope. I can now ski there again.

Win.

Sucks OP. Feel better soon!

Thanks guys. And I ate pizza bread, so I don't think I got food poisoning. It might have been because I ate a bunch then went to the park right away, and was spinning fast on the boxes and jumps.

i haven't had any really bad days, but once i had to wake up really early for this event that my friends and i were doing. on the 3rd run, i was skiing straight, doing nothing difficult, and going pretty slow, as i was less than 100 feet from the lift line. next thing i knew, i was waking up on the ground. i guess i caught an edge and just slammed down, and my ski popped off and flew 20 feet straight up into the air. so yeah, that was fun.

Today was my second day back from injury and it still hurts to bad to hit the full jumps. So I was just buttering and spinning the knuckles. I approached one of the 20-30 foot high landings and aired to flat on accident. I got a concussion and am out again...

Unless patrol had you do a complete head injury evaluation, I wouldn't rule out a concussion. You dont need a super hard fall to get one, a tiny wipeout where you head is a major point of impact can cause a moderate concussion. Make an appointment with you doctor to get a concussion evaluation and if you participate in contact sports take a cognitive test.

I mean yea you may not have a concussion, yet what you described is pretty common when you get a concussion. Ive had 2, and the second time I was told I was fine, next thing I know I'm at the hospital.

Ski patrol dont go to 8 years of medical school.

Take it easy and hope you feel better soon!

vibes. wish you the best!

Thanks for the info man, I appreciate it. I'll probably go see the doctor. I don't really have any of the symptoms except nausea and headache, and after I wiped out my eyes hurt for some reason and I did'nt want to look at anything bright. My mom thought it could be a migraine too. also, when I yawn, the right side of my head hurts.

Yesterday I was working a high school race for my mtn. I was asked to take a lap back up to the top of the course to deliver a drill so they could drill in the start gate, so I got on the chair and everything was cool. I was just off the chair and heading down the hill with the drill in my hands and I was skiing slow-ish on the far right side of a run since I was in uniform. I started to make a slight turn to the left and was completely blindsided by a snowboarder from behind and basically ejected my right ski and landed straight on my face without any helmet protection. Luckily the drill flew out of my hands and I didn't land on it because the bit itself is about a 2" bit and it's about 20" long. Broke the lenses in my crowbars and at the time I was okay. Two hours after the hit, my forehead swelled up to the size of a golf ball over my left eye. Was transported by ambulance to the hospital and 4 hrs later walked out with a concussion and facial hematoma. Now I'm sitting on the couch for two weeks while I get over my concussion because some 15 year old kid had to ride too fast down the hill and didn't pay attention.

For the record, here is a map of my mountain. I was on the run called "Silver Dollar" near "Pioneer Glade" and I had skied from the "Blazing Zephyr" lift, so all you "inb4 you cut the guy off" people can see that I had skied pretty far from the chair before I got hit.

My eye is still swollen but at least I can see out of it today.

Definitely man!

Well the eyes thing is really common with concussions. Sensitivity to light and sound is almost always a symptom. With all that put together I would say it is a definite possibility.

But hey! Lets hope it isnt and even if it is, if you are smart about the recovery process you can be back up there in 2 weeks!

Get some rest and keep us posted!

thanks man, will do. I'm feeling alot better now, none of the symptoms I was having earlier, only a little dizzy when I get up fast. Might be the flu too

yesterday actually, I was having a stomach ache earlier that day and it went away, so i decided to go night skiing with some friends. halfway down the mountain, i got a huge sharp pain and ended up almost shitting my pants, luckily there's always the woods when skiing.

i learned lips to switch on downboxes and front swap front 2 out (is there a name for that?)

lol

but really, sometimes that just happens

food poisoning maybe if it was after eating?

Today I was skiing at this smaller mountain which didn't have a park yet so i was just shreddin around some groomers with my friends. I caught some tiny ass air off of a little roller on the side of one of the runs and somehow managed to catch my tips and faceplant on the groomer (atleast that's what i was told). Next think i know I wake up with a bunch of patrollers around me saying i was knocked out for 5 minutes. they strap me to a backboard and I take a 2 hour ride in an ambulance back to a hospital in my hometown.

Walked away with only a minor concussion and some muscle tears in my back but the whole experience was pretty shitty I must say.

My first day this season, on my fifth run of the day, I got hit in the back by a snowboarder and broke my arm and tore the meniscus in my knee. That was November 6th and I can't ski again till march

I was taking it pretty relaxed today and ended up doing the same thing (minus the concussion thankfully) except on a smaller landing, falling ~14 feet to flat doesn't feel good.

broke my suspects 2nd run of the day today got caught on something on a box and just shredded the edge to shit

time for new skis again fuck didnt even have those for a month

One of the worst for me:It wsa preseason, and there were no jumps in the park (in fact, only a tiny part of the park was open, about 50 yards long). there was one big, steep pile of snow that you could get a little bit of air off, but it was incredibly icy. the snow was slushy elsewhere, so I decided to go to the black diamond where there were 2 rollers you could get a decent amount of air off of, but you had to go pretty fast. I landed 5 in a row and on the last roller of my 3rd run, i got about 90 degrees around then caught me skis. i hit my head a couple of times on the ground and got a bloody nose. I was kinda dazed and had a headache, but I was okay after like 45 minutes. I'm lucky this is about the worst I've been in.

sparknotes: Landed some 3s off sketchy rollers where you had to bomb, caught an edge and hit my head a after I landed 5 in a row.

I said a bad word on their facebook, and I guess I "argued" with a scanner... Who was beinga huge ass-hole to me to start with. All i can say is R.I.P Lemur Poles.

that's kinda ridiculous they banned you for stuff on their facebook page. I have to call out dumbasses on my hill's page all of the time; they usually just delete my comments

lol my karma dropped 300 points. that sucks if you hurt yourself and got doo doo water on you but if you're 2 hours late because you were dicking around putting music on your phone it's your own fault and complaining about it is kind of stupid. Do it the night before, go without new music, or don't complain about being late.

Sounds like umadbro because you were 2 hours late to the hill because you couldn't ski without your biebs then hit your head and got R kelly's doo doo butter on your fresh ski clothes. I ain't even mad because I slept in and had a great day skiing with swollen members on repeat and I'm gonna do it again tomorrow. The worst day skiing is still better than the best day at a desk job.

AAARRRGGG FUCKING SNOWBOARDERS, I KNOW!! So many ignore their blind side and it pisses me the fuck off, especially when they cut you off into the side of a run. Fuck snowboarding, seriously, it's such a trendy fucking sport still and most kids suck so much dick at it. I can snowboard well, but prefer skiing, for the record.

I didn't even get to ski, cause I felt like shit. And I'm not mad that I got there late, I know it's my fault, but whatever, I've already gotten in 30 days this season.

btw my shittiest day at the hill was probably this epic pow day last march when I dropped a cliff and put my teeth through my lower lip when I landed. Went to the hospital, got some basic liquid stitches and landed myself a $1700 bill. 2 hours of orgasmic skiing interrupted by pain and expense. Mostly wasn't concerned about the pain, just the expense. Luckily that's the worst injury I've had skiing so far (knock on wood). Anyway, either that or a few days when I've been teaching lessons and had THE WORST adult groups known to man. People who have balance so bad they by all accounts shouldn't be able to walk down a street without crossing their feet and falling down who decided they wanted to learn to ski.

Today was the worst day for me. Last time I went skiing a few days a ago i was killing it doing my first 720s of the year and stomping all day and then threw my first ever backflip and stomped. It was off a biggish jump too. Today I went and they changed up the jump line due to melting. I scoped them out with my buds one run and everything looked okay. Dropped in next run for a straight air line and after the first jump (15 feet) I carried lots of speed into what I thought to be a 40ish footer. Happened to be a 25 footer and I rolled in with enough speed to clear a 50. landed in the flats sideways to save my spine and took most of it to my face. Blood everywhere and my faces was swelled up good. Got over that a few runs later and gobto straight air the third jump which is the same siZe but more poppy. Stomped it but again overshot, creating enough pressure to dislocate my shoulder...a joint I put 3+ months of psychical therapy into just for ski season. Then i had 4 different employees yell at me on the way to my car for pretty much no reasons. Bad day bad day. Love/hate

i have had a couple of bad days
1. I go up to my home mountain (40 min drive) and none of the rails have jumps up to them...2. Dislocated my collarbone 2nd run on a butter box, dont even know how i managed to do that
