Correct me if I'm wrong but if Freeskier posts a video that is embedded on NS, aren't they essentially running ads for newschoolers? I do agree that all ski media should be shared freely and openly and we should all be friends, but if you're running a business you're not going to want to hand over revenue to your competition.

TGR Powder SBC Skier Downdays Unofficial etc all embed Newschoolers videos...

By your logic, NS shouldn't let the videos stay cause clearly RTC is an ad for K2 and Nordica which generated revenue for Freeskier. Why do you think they called Bishop on their knees begging to have the threads restored? This is clearly something they have put thought into.

Freeskier, I give you a B- on your latest attempt to tarnish Newschoolers and its members. At least your attempt was public this time instead of behind closed doors.

Although it's a shame you had to get Compton involved.

If they post a YouTube video with an ad, how is that different?

The company that invests in the infrastructure of video hosting gets the revenue from the ads associated. This is the way of the internet, no?

I think what people are missing is that newschoolers and freeskier are competitors as well as partners. You can almost think of newschoolers as an online marketplace, similar to what you would see when you go shopping on walmart or amazon. Newschoolers has it's own content, ads, and videos that they are making money off of, but there are also direct and indirect competitors that use newschoolers and make money for themselves and NS. Like when a Freeskier video gets posted on NS, NS makes ad money and Freeskier makes money when the viewer then decides to go their website after watching. Similar to how Inspired posts their edits on here that make NS money in exchange for getting the word out for people to purchase their stuff.

Long story short is that Freeskier and NS might be in the same business, but by working together and sharing content they will end up helping out each other more than hurting.

The other thing to think about is the ads cover the investment in video technology. Same reason that YouTube runs ads - YouTube has invested in free video hosting technology so they can run ads off of it. Our video technology has cost us an enormous amount of money and labor to build.

Part of what we offer is that running ads in a newschoolers video player pays the producers that make content. So if you embed an Inspired player (which is completely newschoolers branding free) - and an ad runs - Inspired makes half that revenue.

So another site refusing to embed that producer's video is actually causing direct harm to that production company and its athletes.

after reading this thread, why would anyone support freeskier?

i have personally met all these dudes, and can honestly say none of them are chill, nor can they even ski... these accusations are very true, i have my personal accounts, and they have been the "anti" to "free"skiing since the days of travis heed. blacklisting anyone for any reason is absurd in a sport we call free!!! honestly, i hate to say it... but it seems like the freeskier/level1 family has been a sore to the industry, as well as many other individuals...if ns was guilty of deleting (anything)they had their reasons, and have realized playing their game will leave them in the same hole...

there is no million dollar checks, there is just people who love to shred, and a bunch of haters that wish they could shred.

keep it freestlye

This is why I said correct me if I'm wrong, I know nothing about the internet compared to you, and I'm being completely serious. I was just coming from a complete business standpoint, and while "another site refusing to embed that producer's video is actually causing direct harm to that production company and its athletes" is completely true, it's also not helping their direct competition, which is NS.

Of course they want to post the most recent content and help promote Inspired, but clearly they were just holding out until the teasers were hosted more neutrally.

Again, I am 100% a supporter of both NS (Member #2303) and Freeskier and I would love to see everyone get along, but you have to remember there is a business to be run and competition is part of that.

The key is that we provide Inspired with a completely newschoolers branding free player. Look at the player on their homepage -http://inspiredmedia.tv/

Its an Inspired player through and through. It uses our technology yes, but nothing other than the CDN serving the video shows Newschoolers. Inspired makes a cut of revenue by using this player.

There is embed code which puts just that player on a site, and doesn't backlink to Newschoolers unless you look at the source of the file.

We aim to provide our partners who wish to use our system something that is non-conflicting, just like YouTube being a non-conflicting video hosting technology.
