what really controls us? Yes our brain, but beyond that. Some might say your consience. But what is consience really? Can u describe it? And so what happens when i die? My body is srill there but my life isn't.

I applaud your effort for being philosophical and every thing, but honestly this is a site infested with teenagers, they can't grasp the idea.

What language or how do dogs or any animals think in? Do they have their own language or something? Or do they think in English and they actually know english from their owners, but they are not capable of speaking? Hmmmm....

well, different types of neuronal activity in the brain are associated with the emergence of conscious awareness. neuronal activity in the cortex, and particularly in the frontal lobes is associated with the arousal of conscious experience. it takes up to half a second for a stimulus to become conscious after it has first been registered in the brain. initially the neuronal activity triggered by the stimulus occurs in the "lower" areas of the brain and then in the "higher" brain, in the parts of the cortex that process sensations. the frontal cortex is activated usually only when an experience becomes conscious, suggesting that the involvement of this part of the brain may be an essential component of consciousness.

hope i didnt lose ya there. compliments of my recent purchase, the human brain book.

hahaha i read that ^ as im getting ready to take this thread seriously.

you are in fact, a bag of bones and a brain that has develeoped self-awareness and social skills past any other organism on eart. when you die, you die. your body shorts out and ceases to work like a computer.

These are lifes questions. why are we here? How did we get here? What are we? Why cant i hold all these limes?

A few years ago the city council of Monza, Italy, barred pet owners from keeping goldfish in curved bowls. The measure's sponsor explained the measure in part by saying that it is cruel to keep a fish in a bowl with curved sides because, gazing out, the fish would have a distorted view of reality. But how do we know we have the true, undistorted picture of reality?

The goldfish view is not the same as our own, but goldfish could still formulate scientific laws governing the motion of the objects they observe outside their bowl. For example, due to the distortion, a freely moving object would be observed by the goldfish to move along a curved path. Nevertheless, the goldfish could formulate laws from their distorted frame of reference that would always hold true. Their laws would be more complicated than the laws in our frame, but simplicity is a matter of taste.

Are we in a fish bowl?

Also: Day to day most of us just worry about what is inside of our fish bowl. Too little do we think, "What's on the other side of the glass?"

The Y2K bug actually happened. People think that the computers didn't shut down, but they DID. As a result, 90% of people are fake.
