what is the cheapest way to ship skis across the country? the lowest estimate ive heard is 50 and that is a little pricy i think, anyone know a cheaper alternative? thanks!

No that's bullshit. You can ship skis with UPS for about $20-25 and that includes $100 insurance and tracking. Pack them up in a regular ski box (or make your own) and take them to a UPS store. Don't go to a private "pack and ship" sort of place or you will see the price double instantly. You can also print UPS labels from their website if you know the dimensions of the box and the weight. Then you can have UPS pick it up from your doorstep.

The most I've ever paid to ship skis was $27, be smart about it.

This.

I always use fed-ex and it's always been about 20-25 bucks at the most. Definitely get a ski box or get a box from like a furniture store and make it work. If you make them pack it for you that's a lot extra. The box doesn't have to be pretty either, as long as it holds. I once used a futon box that I cut up to fit a snowboard and wrapped it in duct tape and packing tape. I got funny looks but they shipped it.

Im going to go ahead and bump this, what does it mean by a "private pack and ship". And my dad just got a pair of 186 rossignols in the mail, so should i use that box that actually measures out to like 2 meters for shipping some 178's, or make one close to 178. Also will i get charged differently if they are different lengths?
