Shing bang

thought i would give a little update of my exploration of finding a shin bang cure. (no such thing except dont ever land back seat.) but i found best thing to do otherwise i found is buy two heavy duty ace bandanges. wrap ice on each shin right after skiing all day .

when sleeping have your legs elevated too. then just wrap the ace bandanges around ur shin while u ski by them selves. this worked really good for me after that and some pain killers..

just though i would share.

(dont land backseat either.)

i had horrible shin bang/splints (no clue what the difference is) last year. this year i got some spks that fit me real well and i have skied twice as much but have not experienced any pain. i guess i got lucky? and to be fair i did land REALLY backseat this weekend and my lower shins are soft to the touch but i couldnt feel it while i was skiing.

i dunno i tend to think people who get really bad shin bang all the time just dont have properly fitted boots, ive never had more then a bit of bruising and sometimes i land backseat to the point where my arms get stuck behind me and i double joint my elbows

I crank em,

But on the spks i leave the top strap 100% loose so it doesn't constrict the flex of ma boot.

I'm also looking at cutting them off and getting booster straps...

I figure that they were made to be worn tight...not uncomfortable tight but snugly, after all the point is to support you ankle and leg

I have it bad right now. Taking 3 days off and icing and using icy hot a lot. Hopefully it works, sometimes its so painful that I stop skiing. It sucks. I have spk's and they fit real well too. Dont really land backseat very often either.

ace bandanges is what I use too. It works if they are tight, but not completely. Better then thin socks, and thick socks have been the worst. Something about the compression around my shins and calfs. Pluse I got pressure plates in the front of my SPK's. When I ride those boots it was the worst, but its better now. The flex on those(90 flex) isn't pivoted flex, its just plastic on the white plastic part and that combined with the single top buckle made me bruse so bad. Thats all I got. Cheers.

I ski 3-5 times a week and never get shin bang too bad

all you have to do is tighten down your boots powerstrap so that there is no gap in between the front of your boot and your shin.

other then that as long as your not swimming gin your boots they don't have to be too tight
