has anyone had this before???

how can i cure or heal this condition?

Just want my shins better before skiing

thanks

there was a thread on this like a week ago. I don't want to be the dick, but somebody has to...searchbar, or even look a few pages.

that being said, stretching your calfs, deep muscle massages (to both front and back of shin), ice, and walking on your heels. should be gone in a few days.

I used to get shin splints really bad when I went running. I started walking on my heals and a month later they completely went away.

I just walk around a basketball court, or tennis court, or whatever court, three times with a 2 minute break between each lap. Just keep your legs as straight as possible and lift your toes up as high as possible.

i've been doing everything except rest (i'm on a soccer team and play tennis)
i cant really stop playing sports cuz then i won't get excersise and my school makes us play a sport :( (just part of the curriculum)

is there any really effective cure to this?

fuck yeah early season shin splints suck balls, what ive done is..................

1... freeze water in a paper cup, but only half full.........

2... once its frozin rip the cup more then half so that your able to rub the ice block on your shin..........

3... rub the ice block on your shin...........

4... take a ( cooking ) rolling pin to your shin BUT have a friend roll it HARD on your shin, maybe bit a rag wile doing this cuz it WILL hurt........

5... repeat steps 3 and 4...............

go to your local pharmaci (sorry for spelling that horribly wrong) and ask them what can i do for shin splints. they will tell u get get shoe supports. ask them what dr shulls i need. i dont remeber what kind they gave me but it worked amazingly great

ya, i already got superfeet and they work really well in my tennis shoes, but won't fit in my soccer cleats properly (might have to do with that my cleats are about a size small...)
karma to all

i've been doing some research and found that you can exercise (walking on toes, heels, etc plus a lot more i found) and help strengthen the muscle in the shin region (forget what its called)

some excersises include:

1. walking on toes and heels

2. stand with your back against a wall. move your feet a foot lengths forward from the wall. lean on the wall and lift your toes while your heels stay on the ground. lift fast and slowly let down. repeat 10-20 times and repeat for a couple of sets.

3. lay face down on a bed with your toes hanging of. position yourself so your feet are on the side of the mattress and pull your feet in against the mattress. for this one i usually try to do 2 sets of 20

these are the most effective ones i found.
i try to do them every morning.
hopefully it will help

word kid knows what hes talking about, you have to break up the bruises, but if it gets to a severe case to the point of where the shin is actually cracked, then you shouldnt do this and get it checked out by a doc, i had severe shin splints and they suck pretty damn bad

^but wouldnt putting pressure on them make them worse
not sure i get the logic behind that....
how do you know if you have severe shin splints???
what kind of doctor would you go to?

i got them super bad last year, and it was mostly for one reason: my boots were too big. i messed up super bad and bought boots too big hoping they would last awhile. DONT DO THAT. get boots that fit your feet well, cause i guarantee that will help.

I recently bought a product called booster straps. It is a heavy duty, semi-stretchy strap that replaces the stock one on the top of the boot. It works like a charm, and it was only 20 bucks.

oh i them too and they hurt like a bitch!

i take lots of drugs and tape them. you have to do this wierd tape job on them, i have my coaches do it for me.

oh and icy-hot helps sometimes.

and ice them when your done skiing for the day. do 15 minutes with ice then 15 w/out and do that for a while
