so yesterday i tried my first legit-ish rail rather than just a ride on box 6 inches above the ground...it was going real well till the part where i took it to my shin at the end....now my shins all swollen up and hurts like a mofo...this was yesterday and im gonna go back at it today i was wondering do any of you wear any type of shin protector when learning rails? i feel like there should be something i can put there but i have no idea what...im def a little worried ill break it if i land in the same spot again cuz its killin just to put weight on it

If it makes you feel better, but you prob don't need them.
Just remember to turn fully 90 degrees, look at the end of the rail and keep your feet at least shoulder width apart. It's unlikely that you will fall on your shins.

I fall about half the time I try rails/boxes and have never landed on my shins, I've just landed on and bruised about every other body part tho

ive never heard or seen of anyone wearing any type of shin padsive heard of ass protectos mainly for snowborder but for skiers i guees it can helpfor rails if you fall on your tail one
try shin pads if it make you fell betterbut i dont think youd really need them

woulnd't be a bad idea, at least until you heal up. check out the sixsixone "veggie" shin pads, they're real thin and you wouldnt even see em under your snowpants. I hit my shin when i tried my first side -entry unnatural grind, it went shin slide to chest slam. haha

haha my shins were beaaaat from rails for a while. i could see it being a good idea since i now have a (semi?)permanent lump on my left one. but i don't really think its a necessity..plus that could be uncomfortable?

woo the exact same thing happened to me about a week ago when the snow melted so i had to pop 1 meter up in the air to get on the rail but my leg especially the shin area got stuck between the rail and the gap while the other foot was riding the rail. dont wear shin pads wear extra socks. thats what i'm doing

shin pads definitely seems like a goofy idea but if it gives you the confidence to learn new stuff and you are comfortable than go for it I guess. not really necessary though.

well, i remember that. u no, Jibdrew faceplanting and blaming it on the pop because he shed all his speed.

anyways, weraing extra socks might help but i used to get mucho shinbang and the way i countered it is just to tighten my boots to the max. i tried putting foam pads and that works also, but its just more work.
