new boots is the only cure. a pair of this or last years 1080 will do it, did it for me (both are the same)

1080 boots compleatly fixed it for me, i always used to get it bad after 2-3 days of skiing, now i can ski for a month and not get shin bang. cutting up some seat foam and putting 2 slices on the sides of your shin will take pressure off the main part of your shin and may help. Rubbing all those sport ointments on will help it heal faster too.

i heard if you get a sponge and cut a u shape in it and turn it upside down it is supposed to help, but i haven't tried it yet.. and if it doesn't work you are only out like a buck

i skied on rossignol soft for one day at mt hood and i came out with the worst shin bang of my life, i couldnt walk strait. But i dont think that missing the landing of a hip jump completely and dropping 20+ feet strait down into the flats didnt help the situation that well, so i guess i cant really say.

i have softs, i didnt get it real bad the 2 days i was able to ski at HN, but there wasnt anything big opened then, but u could try this tape thing my pe teacher showed me, seems like it might work

u take medical tape or whatever and put a peice on the top of your foot and wrap it around from the inside out one or two times, then u do the same thing right above your ankle, that might help, but i dont know

when I was out at Copper last spring break I got mad shin bang. A rememdy that worked really well was buying one of those cheap camping roll out foam mats and cutting it into pieces and putting them around the tibia (main shin bone). I didn't feel a thing the rest of the week! try it, highly recommended

now the old man sits until the days when time stood still, the hours always seem to fade, but the memeories never will. All the love that you gave me, the dreams in the night. Now I just want to thank you, while the day's still light.

boots that fit properly around the ankle (place where boots are supposed to be fit precisely) will help keep the whole shin with even pressure on the boot thus relieving and preventing boot bang.

also dont land far back and try to save the trick. this is called reverse boot bang. where the immense pressure of you leaning back on the cuff of the back of the boot causes the shin to bend in a way it was not meant to receive pressure. this can cause cracking of the shin, or stretching of the bone (not sure of the medical term for this one). that is reverse boot bang, so dont land back and try to be a hero

Shin splint happens because you are skiing to hard for your calfs to handle, this in turn causes your shins to hurt. The stronger your calfs are, the longer and harder you can ski for.

--

shin splints definitely don't happen because ur calfs aren't too strong, its exactly the opposite.... the stronger your calfs the more it hurts

Take off your nylon power straps and put on some Booster Straps. They are stretchy and take away some of the shin bang from landing.

buy boots that dont suck and that fit you.

3 things that will help: as stated, Booster straps... and I;d say get the triple strap; you can get weather stripping from any hardware store, its a roll of foam with a stiky side, take a strip or two and stick it on the toungue of your boot about 3 or 4 inches long on either side of your shin; at least for salomons they have a piece that is supposed to distribute shin pressure more evenly, its just a piece of plastic that goes behind the top buckles between the shell and tongue of the liner. or dont land in the back seat.

a pair of langes from about 1999 had this weird stiffness adjuster and it helps quite a bit.

booster straps dont prevent boot bang. booster straps can aid in the prevention but often booster straps are used improperly. if a booster strap is used right it should help to evenly distribute pressure over the shin. if used improperly boot bang will occer lower down because the booster strap will be flacid (for lack of a more appropriate word) and the buckles will be tight as shit. if your worried about boot bang just make sure that your boots are fitted properly at ur ankles (where they should be fitted) and ski and build some calouses

believe or not a cheap remedy is a heal gel pad....it helps absorb shock that contributes to shin bang

shin splints are caused by two tendons or muscles or something that run from your shin down to the top of your foot, when theyre stretched it hurts, and they can eventually snap and retract into your foot, then ur fucked, when u land backseat and try to stay on your feet instead of going straight to your ass, they stretch, taping them like i said above is supposed to keep them from stretching to far and make them hurt less

i had some crappy rear entry race boots with no insole and I practically had to crawl to the car at the end of the day. i was too poor to afford new boots and this year I got new boots so you wont hear me complaining about shin bang.

Dont waste that shit

how wide are those lange soft boots, or do they come in a wide and normal form. I always found lange to be narrow. I use the 1080 pro model, how do they compare width wise liam?

If your like me, i have super skinny legs so its hard to get everything clamped down tight. i cut some foam, like yoga mat foam thats about a centimeter thick and make a giant oval that wraps 3/4s of the way around my shin, pop it inbetween my sock and liner and it works great
