Shin Bang

Ya this year i am getting alot of shin bang and i was wondering a loosif it's better to have loose boots on the top at your shin or tight at the shin to prevent shin bang.

plz respond

same problem. i find medium at beginning of day, then loose at end of day once they start hurting.

Def look into a booster strap cuz you can crank that tight and keep your boots loose, it helps a lot.

I dont want to sound like a dick but there are about 294893274 threads on this subject if you type "shin bang" into the search bar

booster straps are wonderful! but also, if you put some lube in a little plastic baggy and then put it on your shin (like right around the top of your boot), that works remarkably well also.

YOu need them tight as possible from the start of the day. Not to mention pull up your socks, and put on like more socks to cushon the impact. I wear like 3 pairs of socks.

Loosening your boots is the worst thing you could do to help shin bang. Keep em tight, ride upright.

Thats correct. You need tight boots, and to not land backseat. Tight boots make so landing in the backseat won't affect you as much, contrary to what you might think. But most of all, try to land forward.

ya, it is. A millimeter of polyester is not really gonna give that much cushioning. 3 pairs of socks wll just trap moisture and cause your feet to get damp and cold.

For a little extra padding (and it keeps your shin muscles warm) try a neoprene leg sleeve. Easy to find, cheap, and they work well

not it woun't not if its wool. They keep my feet warm.....and the padding makes a difference. My friends can only take a few jumps and their shins are fucked, i can hit jumps all day.

keep your boots tight so your boots move with your knee movement. If you keep them loose your shins stretch and shit... im no doctor or shop tech but i know tight boots = good = less shin problems.

It's also really important to have your boots fit perfectly. I rode with boots only a half size too big and had serious problems. Now that I have a boot a little smaller then I would normally rock I haven't had any shin problems.

make shure your boots fit you really well and tighten them down hardcore also dont land in the backseat or ski in the backseat for that matter

PUT THE POWER STRAP ON THE INSIDE OF YOUR PLASTIC, THEN DONT TIGHTEN THE FIRST STRAP MORE THAN THE POWER STRAP. AND, TIGHTEN YO BOOTS NUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKA!

when i used to race, i would put a sponge that i cut up to fit my shin onto the suck, use tape or w/e, worked great

yeah my boots are a half size to big this year, i get shin bang so bad everytime i go out, especially when i hit jumps and hiking park.. its the worst pain. im gona try to put some extra padding on the inside of the tounge and always keep my boots tight

hmm, lucky me, i have mad stiff boots and i hike and jib all day, and i have never gotten shin bang. i bet it must suck, tho.

the riding part is easy keep your boots tight. They may not be fitted correctly also. I would bring them into a shop and have them check if they fit right. They can easily put shims in if the boot is too big. If the boots too big you could be sliding back in forth in your boot which causes alot of the shin bang. Also as said before booster straps do a great job keeping the tongue of the boot tight against your shin.

The hiking part unfortunately I don't know how to help. Its from extra pressure walking in your boot. This week our mt setup a "hike only" park and for the first time ever my shins hurt.

Ok, im curious. Do other people get pain/bruised on the back of thier leg? Like, where the back of the boot touches the back of your leg?

I think it's partially from me riding backseat in heavy powder and also doing tail butters alot and preloading my tails to pop alll the time, i tend to land backseat on jumps too. But holy fuck it hurts. I have 4frnt MSP's which are pretty damn stiff too which I like and I also have the rossi Softboot which could be my problem. I dont like to wear them super tight, I like the boots, but maybe I need to try new ones? Maybe they are too short for my leg, im not sure. Anyone else have a similar problem?
