How can i reduce shin bang? I know this has probably been asked before, but im too lazy to search for past posts. Any tips on this? BTW, my boots are Rossis (not softs, i could only wish they were) with 4 buckles and a powerstrap. Any good suggestions?

it could actually be shin splints. i got those last year, and they're a bitch. I had to wrap my legs up with ace bandages and stuff, they really hurt. I got them from landing in the backseat too much. It streched the shin backwards, and tears the muscle in front. I'd say just work on landing perfectly balanced. Try some stuff on some rollerblades (if you have em) if you don't land perfectly center-balanced on those, you fall on your ass. so it's good to train with

be aware, ski with care

I used to have that really bad it felt like my legs were going to snap, what I did is I cut some foam pads and stuck it in my boot in front of my shins, I havn't had any problems since

first use ice packs to massage your shins downward then apply this herbal shit, i think it starts with an E and icyhot or tigerbalm works well too.

Then go to a crafts store and by some seat foam, it should be about 1 inch thick opencell foam. Then cut 4 1.5 by 3 inch strips of it, or what ever fits well. anyways stick a strip of this foam on each sid of the toung of your boot, then tightin the booster strap tight and leave your buckels pretty loose.

thers also 2 strechis that work good to loosen up your shins, one is to grab your foot while standing up and pull on it, and the other is to get duckfooted and rise up on to your toes.

never thought of the extra foam tip, i'll give it a try. Stretches will probably help, too. When do you do them, before skiing or whenever?

you can get these pads that go inside the toungue of your boot that make it so the sides of your shin hit the toungue and not your shin bone. my friend has them and he likes em.

i used to get shin splints all the time...it also comes from your calf muscles being stronger then the muscles in the front...try standing on the stairs in your house....instead of doing calf raises,, put your heals on the edge(toes to the down side) and point them to the ground, then flex them up...do three sets at a time and multiple times through out the day.....seems silly, but works really good

shave your legs, without the hair there all the pressure is applied evenly therefore no shin bang, and ya look really sexy too

my intire crew waited for his ass at the bottem of the hill and beat the shit out of him. i broke his poles agianst a tree, and we snapped one of his skis. fucker got uppercutted so much. he was bleeding from his eyes and shit, crying like a little pussy. i busted out a body slam on his ass and broke both of his arms. the ski patroler broke up the fight and clipped all of our tickets. we where gonna beat the shit out of the patroller but my mom came to pick us up.

It may also be cos you trying to stand up too straight while you ski, always keep your shins lightly touching the front of your boots.

my friend got his at this boot shop at keystone. they are kinda a specialty shop, but i dont know why a place that sells a lot of boots wouldnt have them.

you can get an exercise band from a sport supply or sports medicine store. tie it around your foot and sit with the leg straight then flex it back and forth while holding the band. if you do these exersises enuf you will get stronger shins that can take landings better

I am not doing the grabs because I am getting a thrill out of touching my ski-JP Auclair

i hate shin bang. i got it so bad last year i was on 1200 mg of Ibuprofen, and 500 of aspirin...it wasn't good

joey: whats that?

me: i dunno

Joey: me either but it's comin back!

hahaha yeah, i already shaved my ankles just up to where my boots come, it stops all of the pinching problems. I know I have some really strong calf muscles, and i never really knew there where muscles towards the front, so im gonna hafta do lots of those stretches. Thanx for the tips, also props to linechicks icon because i have those skis and and that icon kicks ass. Im too lazy to figure out the whole icon thingy, but, yeah. Okay, i'll tell you all how it goes after i ski today, if my problem is gone or not.
