Shin bang in a boot that fits

So I got fitted by 2 different professional boot fitters and they both told me to get the salomon ghost 100. I went to a custom boot place to get the fit perfect. They molded the liner, added some heel lift, moved the place of the strap and put in a foot bed.

Ive skied in them for 4 days now and the fit is good. No movement but there is some shinbang. It wasn't that bad but the last time I went up I landed a little backseat on a 3 and my shin got an awful bruise.

Should I ski in them more and see if it goes away? Bring em back to the custom fitter?

Thanks

there's not really a boot available, no matter if you have a perfect fit or not, that will completely prevent shin bang. ski in them more and if it doesn't go away after a few weeks of use i'd take them back in.

What kind of footbed did they make you?

If you take the liner out and just have your foot in the middle of the shell how much room is there above your instep.

does the pressure on your shin feel even top to bottom when you flex forward.

Its not a full custom foot bed its just a sidas.

There is a loose 2 fingers above the instep

I only feel pressure on the top and its only when I've been skiing for a few hours

thanks +k

Depending which sidas you got, you may be able to get it custom molded and stabilized. The flash fits work very well for that. Often with a non custom you will find that your foot is not in an ideal neutral position. This can affect both the positions of your leg in the cuff but also how you flex the boot.

By the sound of it you have a little much space above your foot, which is meaning your not flexing the boot properly. This is indicated by the fact you only feel the shin at the top of the cuff.

It could help to align your foot and also possibly to raise your foot inside the boot, to try to maximize the flex of the boot.

Prob best bet is to take them back to the fitter, tell him your problems and see what he recommends, but get those footbeds molded for sure, if you can.

Tom is spot on here. And just for everyone to remember- if you do get shinbang, that means there is something about your boot that doesn't fit right. Fit means more than just how your foot feels in the lower shell. Flex, geometry, pressure distribution are all really a part of how a boot "fits" you.

Booster strap pretty much cured shinbang for me. I still get calfbang though, my quest to get rid of this continues.

Calf bang is a bitch, It's 100% to do with landig though, whenever I'm trying a new trick and I land backseat a lot, I get it.

It's all about having the correct fit between your shin and the tongue of your liner. If you can achieve this without Boosters (i.e. normal powerstrap) then you are fine. If you cannot get the tongue to even fit your shin, then they are worth a look.
