Shifty weird

I spin left but doing a shifty with my skis to the left and counter rotating the upper body feels weird? Other way round i can rotate my skis more but doesnt feel perfect either way. Anyone feel the same or can give advice?

It took a lot of practice for me to get shifties on lock. You really have to focus on popping straight, then twisting.

Also think about where your arms are going. I naturally want to twist my arms in the same direction as my legs, but they need to go the opposite direction

Yeah i think i‘ll have to practice more. Could also be because i learned 180s spinning left way before i ever did my first shifty and i‘m so used to twisting everything left

As simple as it sounds. Take your skis off and do shifties in your ski boots dozens of times and practice the upper body counter-rotation. Also I recommend getting carved takeoff shifty all 4 ways asap

yes you will notice if you carve/aim slightly to the left, it will be easier to do right shifty and vice versa

yes when rotating! think of a shifty 180 where your upper body rotates to the left but lower body points straight down hill -> shifty to the right. spot the landing and turn your legs to complete the 180.

it’s kinda like stopping your rotation.

Yooo it sounds like it’s not too late to easily learn your spins (and shifty) both ways. Save yourself a season’s worth + of catch-up and breaking old habits now.

Yes i have to, did it at first and then stopped spinnung unnatty (only 180s and shifty anyways)

do you think i should start sliding unnat of the rip?

I learned 180s and then suddenly realised I could then shifty as a result haha. It was a weird moment for me

If you learn now, it’s twice as hard. But if you wait to learn, it’s 10x harder
