Shfit Happens 2.0

With the rate of tehcnological expanse however, we're usually finding out we have ways around many limitations before they're an issue. Its really just a free expand most of the time.

interesting, and I see what drew. posted after you too. I guess I didn't really make the becoming obsolete or no part clear because I wasn't thinking about that, but I agree with you that it's interesting that they're using the technology in different ways and developing new technology for other things. a constant cycle. I think limits do obviously present themselves, but then we surpass them or find other methods of avoiding them.

I think you might be on what i'm suggesting though...

in the advent of true AI, and of possible virtual worlds, virtual beings, and such-- what constitutes reality would become a major issue

WoW is not reality. Millions of people need to realize that they are not a power Mage in real life.

^i dunno man, nanotechnology is a very active field right now and quantum computing is starting to go into use. computing power has been growing exponentially so far, and there aren't many indicators that it will slow down

just to throw my 2 cents in, i believe that the next monumental technological breakthrough will be the creation of true artificial intelligence. Once we can create intelligent computer programs, there is almost no telling what we could do or what our limits could be

what we could do or what the computers could do?

ahh, no i agree, I think about how paranoid we'll be when we're old geezers -- evil robots and computers everywhere.

not at all. the internet will soon be unnecessarily fast for the programs we have to run on it now, but what you seem to fail to realize is that the programs are improving at the same rate and the information that will need to be sent will be beyond our current comprehension.

computers the size of gymnasiums used to run programs on cards and a couple of kps was a huge amount of information, now we can buy 160gbs, a screen and a user interface and fit the whole package into our pockets.
