any suggestions for a shell type of jacket, i'm thinking about getting one cause my dc jacket is getting old, dont really want something bulky, just someting to keep me dry. i dont usually get cold anyways. so..........

Arcteryx does make reallly nice stuff but  its soooooo expensive. if you have the money and want to spend it Arcteryx definatly PATAGONIA is kick ass also

im kind looking for something not so expensive maybe under $175, i realize what you pay for is what you get, but i'm not exactly rollin in the money as a college student and can sacrifice quality for price.

Check out the backcounry.com outlet. They have tons of stuff left over from last season that is like 30-50% off. Also evogear has some good stuff last year at a discount. Check the local shops too they always have left over stuff.

Arcteryx>everything basically. But if you don't want to dish out the coin, I'd say go for Foursquare's Searle Shell.

ended up buying a northface venture jacket last night, seems like a good deal, $100 and 2 day shipping from moosejaw. anyone have this jacket, opinions...

just a question: what do you guys think is good for wearing under a shell jacket if your taking it to cooler areas?

i picked up an awesome marmot shell at REI for 200 bucks last week. its really lightweight, great waterproofing, good hood, powderskirt, fancy color, it's a really nice coat. i really wanted a nice coat, cause i haven't gotten a new one in like 5 years, so i did a lot of research, checked out a lot of brands, tried on tons, and this was my favorite. bang for the buck, im very happy
