Sheet music

I have the Answer!

Use the program guitar pro or power tab... Install it, go to ultimate guitar tab or whatever that site is, find the tab for either guitar pro or power tab (whichever one you want). obtain file (free obviously) and open it with the program..... you will see the tab in tabliture and on a musical scale ( sheet music)

If you cant get guitar pro or power tabs add me on msn and i will email them to you in exchange for you voting number 5 on here http://www.bookstore.ubc.ca/whatsnew/UBCOmusic_entryform_content.htm

serious? no, it will make your life 20x harder (at least in terms of music). playing by ear is good but its embarassing to be a good at an instrument and not be able to read sheet music.

i can play by ear just fine
i can read music just fine too
but since its not a real guitar it makes it harder to play by ear

Exactly. All these kids who want to learn guitar just to be cool but can't read sheet music... it's sad.

ha! who needs sheet music when you can just listen to the song and play it just as good? You don't need to be able to read sheet music to be a good musician...although it definitely helps. I used to be able to read sheet music fluently but then I switched over to Suzuki and it's a million times better. As soon as I picked that up, I progressed 10 times faster than I did during the 7 years that I read sheet music.

what about when you can't listen to the song first?

im not saying you shouldn't play by ear, its definitely a useful skill. but you should be able to read sheet music. the movie "drumline" is a perfect example. guy could play anything he heard perfectly, but when they put music in front of him, he couldn't even read it. plus there are things you learn from reading music that you could never learn from playing by ear.

then how do you know you want to play it? Learning by ear is amazing for song writing, but I agree, you need to learn sheet music eventually. I used to be able to read sheet music fluently for 7 years when I played voilin, then I quit and taught myself guitar and piano by ear, and writing songs is incredibly easy when you have ear training and understand musical theory.
