So I found out about this a few day ago, and I want to pass it on to the fellow skiers on here. So one day I went to redbullusa.com to check out there site, because of the fake Red Bull New Eras. I went to their contents and I click on street style, and below on the screen I saw Sheckler V.S. The Mega Ramp. Why do many people hate on Ryan Sheckler?

I don't know if I like him or dislike him.

He just trying to opening skate community to more people, what that to hate on someone for just that?
 
I cant stand Ryan Sheckler! After doing Red Bull Rough Cuts a few competitions ago, I had an entire tape of his whiney ass. He's such a pussy. good skater, but i can't even stand to hear his voice anymore.

Either way, I give him props for hitting that, he is really a talented skater, not a fan of how he acts in person, hard to blame him though he has been in the spotlight since a young age and that tends to make kids mad cocky.

Anybody that sells their life out to the public is a tool. Honestly, he's putting himself on the same level as Jessica Simpson.

If someone gave me a tv show for designing video games and handed me a check for a few million, I would do it.

You know you would too if someone paid you mad bank for what you love to do, and gave you a tv show.
 
That's different.

His show is more about his life as a skateboarder, not about his skateboarding. What you are referring to would be something on a channel like the discovery channel or something with GOOD tv shows. LIke, they got all up in his relationships and stuff like that. If I could watch a show that would be really about what kinds of stuff actually goes on in the industry, I would watch that instead of something about one guy's life.
 
back when the first mega ramp was ever built in Point X Camp Ca. I hit the small side a few times, never actually landed it, but it's not that hard all it takes is sacking up and just rolling into that scary ass thing
 
the reason he gets hated on, is skateboarding shouldnt require an AMG 55 like in the beginning of the video. seriously, what happened to pros rolling around in rape vans?

sure he might sound lik ea huge tool on tv and shit but bottom line is that hes gettin a rediculous amount of money to skateboard do what he loves and has tons of fans. hes also not that bad at skateboarding to mention. action sports are becoming the "in" thing to do and MTV just made a show about him that most of the viewers who watch MTV might not necasarily like to watch skateboarding but the drama in his life and that kind of shit
 
Sure, Sheckler's tv show makes him look like a pussy. But I have so much respect for that guy, think of it twice, all he did in skateboarding and he's still so young. very talented skater.

Why am I defending ryan sheckler? Because all you little kids who call him a pussy, call him a sell out, or whatever to MTV, you know how much money he probably got? MTV made him do stupid shit like that, 90% of it was probably fake and edited to make more dramatic. He may think he's not doing as much gay shit, but then with editing and such, they can make it worse. Don't you guys get the connection? Everyone calls MTV gay for all of there stupid shows, you know why? Because that's how they plan to do, it relates to a bigger group of people and group isn't us. Judging someone based on a TV show, especially MTV, is just stupid.

The truth is, if any of you kids got the chance to do something on MTV like that, you would do it. Talk about how much you wouldn't how its gay and selling out, but in reality you would do it, period. Ryan may appear to be a little vag on MTV, but watching his skating and that video just shows he probably has done more things in his life than you ever will and has more balls than any of you ever will.

Call me gay, call me a fag, whatever you little 15-year-old-i-hate-ryan-sheckler-hes-a-sell-out-pussy kids want to, fact is he probably has about 100 times more money than you ever will and can do about 100 times as many things as you and do it 100 times better, period. I would by no means agree to have my life broadcasted on a TV show that I know is gonna make me look bad. Not even for bigggg money, unless it was like millions and millions of dollars. I would hate myself if I had to wake up with a camera in my face having to put a microphone on. I never hated on his skating, I just don't think as a person you should be selling yourself out to the world like that. You are essentially whoring your life out to the world. Fuck that shit.

All I know is that kid gets some major ass and he's rollin in some sick cars and has enough money to pretty much retire now and live lavishly for the rest of his life. His skating is sick, his show is not so sick and makes him look like a little bitch. But what about bams show, all it really made him look like was an asshole who treats his friends like shit.

He would have so much more respect in the skate community if he did not do that show. No skater respects him after that shit. Now he cares more about what MTV viewers who know nothing about skating think about him, which is fucking bogus. He's a very good skater but he'd be so much more legit if he wasn't such a bitch on his show.

I'd do a show if offered but I wouldn't make it gay and dramatic. I'd take the reins myself and make it entertaining like Rob & Big and have a lot more skating. No one would look down on him if he didn't do his little Laguna Beach style Life of Ryan.

Once again, he probably didnt get to choose man, hes a teenager, so they did a drama show. Fucking girls and gays dude gobble that shit down like dick. They couldnt do a drama show with rob and big, they are goofy fucks, so they made a funny show. Sheckler has divorced parents, is a teenager, and has little brothers that obviously look up to him, perfect combo to make millions on a show.

And as for the skating community not like him, its like shawn white, all the snowboarders i have ever met in my life hate him, its the same concept. Sheckler probably doesn't even care, his close friends like him, probably most of his endorsements LOVE him since hes on national TV that is watched by trend following fucks. I bet his endorsements get SO much money and business from life of ryan, which means more money for sheckler. Sheckler is just sitting in his HUGE house right now, with millions of dollars in the bank, giving everyone the finger, because in the end, hes got mad money, close friends and family, and what else do you need? little 14 year old punk skaters who think hes a bitch? Fuck know, and he probably could careless.

As for him being cocky, get into his shoes and be him. You would be cocky too, end of discussion. Calling someone who is a pro, a very good pro, who makes more money then your mommy and daddy ever will, a cocky person is just stupid. He has the right to be cocky and frankly, you don't really have a right to call him out on that, because i can guarantee you are not at the level he is at in skating, in anything, period. So zip the lid, no one cares.
 
I didn't watch the whole thing but i watched the front feebs thing. he never said he had the best style he said he had a style no one else had and the ability to make them look good. definitely true.

as for the show heres how i see it. Yeah it sucks that its so Laguna Beach-y but hey its what gets viewers. There is no possible way MTV could run a show about just his skating, it just wouldn't get good enough ratings. However this show can do nothing but good. It shows a larger portion of the world skateboarding. That means more kids getting into it, which means more money in the industry. More skaters also means more push for skateparks in EVERY town, and eventually maybe even good ones everywhere, because as great as it is that places are building parks, half the time the wrong people are designing them. While the show may be overdramatic (its definitely not "gay" i haven't witnessed any homosexuality) its getting skateboarding out to the people, and all that can do is help.

As for the original post, it just shows how dope Shecks is. He throws down on street and hitting the mega ramp is sick. The gap is the easy part yeah but its still gnarly as fuck. As for him not hitting the quarter, he isn't a tranny skateboarder and that could end horribly. Recall Jake Brown last year falling 40 feet or so to flat, and he's used to hitting the thing. The first time Pat Duffy hit it a similar thing happened, popping out to far and falling to flat. Sheckler is still branching out and pushing himself, and showing he's one of the most talented skaters out there.
 
no need to defend him man. it comes down to

a) sell out and make a lot more money or

b) don't and live with making a reasonable amount of money and being a pro skater

he chose A. different people would choose different things. I'd choose B.
 
What IS selling out.... Its not like skateboarding is this super core hidden sport anymore, its bigger than it ever has been. So he decided to do a show, its money in the bank, and he gets to do what he loves skate.
 
If you were honestly offered millions of dollars for A you wouldn't choose it? I do not believe you for a second, you'd have to be a complete moron not to "sell out". People always making "selling out" bad, but shit man, everyone who talks down on it would do it, they just talk shit on it because it will never happen to them and they know it. Just accept it, you would take the money.
 
Just because he makes a lot of money and is good does not give him the right to be cocky. Are you serious? Also how is it relevant how much money my parents make? Yes I do have a right to call him out on being cocky because look at someone who is way better then him at skating say daewong song or chris haslam they aren't cocky at all and they are so good at skating. He has a lot of money becuase he is a comp rat.

I def think I had to opportunity to make a living doing something I loved I'd go for it. and doing so does probably go to your head, but still keep that shit to yourself. there are plenty of kids who suck who think they're great, but that doesnt entitle them to talk big. sheckler can back it up, but he's wack. I think mike v is a prime example of a down to earth big-time guy. actually a lot of the older guys are mad down to earth despite their status.
 
Calling people mentally ill on the internet is idiotic in itself. I'm not all about making money, I like living my life to the fullest without a camera following my ass around. And I doubt he made millions and millions off 1 show. I would live a life that is respected. Look at Rob and Big. Their show is 100x better, and I doubt they are making multimillions because of it. It's just a show on MTV, not something shown on national television.

Well think of the kinda things that have been done on the mega ramp: Kickflip front lipslide, fuckin 720's, kickflip indy 360, rocket backflip...and Sheckler only managed to air it without hitting the qp. And of course they document the whole thing because he is special little Ryan Sheckler.

And about your MTV rant. Sheckler was famous WAAAAAY before MTV. He had enough money to never work a day in his life, and enough for his unborn kids BEFORE MTV. He did not need to sell his personality to MTV for even more money...thats just greedy. If I got a chance like that? No I don't think I'd make an ass of myself on national television. Sure the money would be temping because I'm not a teenage millionaire, but I still wouldn't sell my personality to a TV station sorry.

If you have no pride in yourself, which im guessing you dont because of that post, then thats cool. But if you could stand in the shoes of someone who takes pride in themselves, you would see it in a completely different perspective.
 
Finally someone drops a good name. Tim O'Connor has been in the scene for so many years I can't even count. He was even part of the LOVE park madness. This guy is a real OG and Sheckler needs to learn from him.

Sorry about all the posts but there are a lot of people posting in this thread that know nothing about skateboarding.
 
Um, im pretty sure he did sell his personality to MTV, i cant seen sheckler actually being a winey, crying bitch in real life. He did sell it to MTV and got millions for it.

As for you not doing it, in no way shape or form can you even answer that question unless it actually happens. Money changes alot of things you would do in your life and its just a fact. Say what you want, but i can guarantee that 99% of people will say they won't, but if offered millions of dollars, they would change their mine. Greed is a very powerful thing and younger people tend to be very drawn by it.
