Shea Flynn Ski Sponsor

I swear I saw him on some Armada skis up at Hood but I wasn't 100% sure though. He has also been riding with Mike Hornbeck a lot.

Can confirm. I was at hood on the weekend on the 4th and they were shreddin together

i could understand if he didnt want a sponsor if hes not filming anymore but if he is still filming that just makes no sense. the amount of skis that i go through is unreal and i suck. without a ski sponsor and hitting as much urban as he does with stept and whoever; hes gonna have to shell out alot of money on skis. can anyone confirm if hes over filming and over sponsors? or just his mindset in general?

Shea is unsponsored and is not planning on getting anymore. He would rather be unsponsored.

what? that's retarded, unless he isnt going to film anymore..?

but man armada is so good about giving popular unsponsored skiers skis...great PR work there

If he continue to do urban its really expensive to not have a ski sponsor ..... Im pretty sure he more than welcome armada to help him a little bit with his urban journeys around the us with stept.

Also stept upload a picture recently with chiefcookies on it in and urban spot

lol thats like Tanner saying he would "rather not" compete anymore

its bullshit

he could definitely get a sponsor if he wanted one

I dont agree or disagree with that but give me a reason why he wouldnt "want" to be sponsored? to me that makes no sense. He dont like money? he's got enough?

There's a lot more to being sponsored than just skiing and getting free shit. You actually have to represent the company and have them benefit from having you on their team. Maybe he just wants to do his own thing and realizes it wouldn't jive well with being sponsored.

having a ski sponsor and being in movies most definitely =/= making money.

i'm sure a bunch of companies would be more than happy to flow him a couple pairs of skis given the exposure that he gets with stept, and free skis without the headache of dealing with TMs and pressure of representing for one brand is awesome.

ehh i mean yeah, but unless he somehow has plenty of money from other sources i really don't see how having a SKI sponsor could ever be a bad move for your career (or lifestyle, if you wanna nitpick over that choice of words)

sure, assuming you're getting money from that ski sponsor. but if you're not getting paid there's certainly no contract and no loyalty from someone as talented as him. so why not get as many top notch skis from other sources as you can?

you do realize how few people actually get paid, right?

Shea would at the very least have broken the travel budget level of riding for a company. And although thats not cash in the pocket, its certainly something

ah, so there are people out there that sign real contracts with companies but only get flow, no money, not even some travel budget here and there?

that's brutal. i can see where shea would be coming from if that's the situation

and if you do get paid by a ski sponsor, you do realize how few people make more than about 5 g's a year, right? short of people that are in x games (and even some of them) making more than 5 or 6 thousand a year off a ski sponsor is unheard of

yeah i know that many people make peanuts but 5 g's is more than 0, especially for a dirtbag skier (assuming he doesn't have family money or something like that)

No, not what I said at all. If there's no money there's no contract. So if nobody is going to offer him any money and just throw him some sticks, that's certainly not a level of sponsorship, it's some free marketing for as long as the skis last and a vessel for shea to do the ill shit that he does. An arrangement that is good for both of them right now, apparently.

okay oops i misread your post. but it stemmed from you saying "sure, assuming you're getting money from that ski sponsor" which implies that it is possible to have a contract but not get paid

so yeah if it's between flow and finding a sponsor, i just don't see how not having a sponsor could really be beneficial. ski company contracts aren't exactly the most constricting contracts out there-- i don't really see a negative aspect of having one if youre trying to live the dirtbag skier lifestyle anyway. i lived off less than 5 grand for my ski bum months for sure-- that check would be a nice boon given that lifestyle

oh well. this is all just food for thought based on one post saying he doesn't want a sponsor or whatever

Who cares, K2's are garbage anyways...I wouldn't ski them either lol.

Just curious, but what's your issue with them? I've owned multiple pairs and genuinely enjoyed them

There's something to be said about skiing for yourself as opposed to skiing for other people. Interpret as you will.

I mean K2 did drop his pro-model then give Pettit ANOTHER pro model that's functionally the same

I do remember hearing him in a Nimbus video interview this winter that he feels kinda 'meh' about K2 right now. I'm guessing he wants to design a pro model more similar towards Eric and Chris's skis that are wide, playful pow skis but they won't let him...because the Kung Fujas was no bigger than a 100 waist from what I remember - not Nimbus worthy :(
