he just did this down in the greatest country in the world- new zealand. absolutely insane and so progressive.

Hooolllyyyy crrraapppp that was a sick run. Once he gets a nice 7 or 9 to start that instead of a straight air, it will be unreal. Props Shaun. You may not be my favorite rider, but you've got some serious talent.
 
i agree he has horrible style but i think hes got a pretty good attitude, he not that bad of a guy but damn, he is nasty
 
It's summer in NZ. 90% of pipe progression happens when all the pros flock to NZ during summer during the northern hemisphere summer. I'd be surprised if a number of skiers didn't throw back to back pipe doubles in NZ in the past couple months. We'll see the vids eventually.
 
i keep hearing that dorey supposedly can do a rightside double, haven't seen it though

and i guess Shaun/the US snowboard team made High Cascade campers sign some form saying they wouldn't talk about the shit shaun was throwing in the pipe to keep it on the DL for the olympics?
 
I'm pretty sure Dorey has done this

He was so close to getting it at either X or Dew

He has both dubs on lock
 
i saw some other boarder do that at hood last month. it might have been shawn, he was in town the day i saw it
 
I dont think his style is that bad, but its not good. And damn, he is going to own the x games this year, it won't even be a competition for snowboarder pipe.
 
I don't think he has horrible attitude.. He is one of those super high up guys who is nice to everyone(I thought). and yeah that was sick.
 
Anyone who doubles back to back at the top of the pipe and not at the bottom like he did, and doesn't do straight airs would have beat him... But it probably wont happen
 
Shawn's run was the sickest thing I've ever seen, but I don't think it was unbeatable. He wasn't the only person doing back to back doubles, and Luke Mitrani started his run off with a 15+ foot down-the-pipe double flatspin. No doubt Shawn deserved the win, just saying that it wasn't in it's own league. Crazy progression.
 
Ya I totally agree, he doesnt have a unique style but it definitely isn't horrible. Everything is so clean and precise, IMO it is relateable to Jon Olson kinda.
 
his back to back doubles in the pipe at Silverton are even more insane. The whole Burton team movie is pretty crazy. The whole session on the B was intense.
 
I know there are a handful of guys who can do doubles in the pipe in skiing, and maybe I just haven't seen any others aside from X, but Shaun's looked so fluid compared to Dorey's or Pete O's in my opinion. I think it is because snowboarders are more compact and therefore their doubles look more stylish in the pipe, but just my two cents. When a skier throws a double cork with a grab in the pipe followed by another double, then I will be amazed. Still amazed at Shaun's run though.
 
I love how only one person tackles him at the end. shawn white is a douche but still oh so talented.
 
i disagree..with these huge/steep pipes now its more like your 3rd or 4th hit is your biggest. so sick shaun white is still progressing and knows what he has to do to win the olympics, sign of a true athlete
 
OH MY GOD. hate to say it but skiing still has a ways to go (not saying its a competition or anything) but just comparing two very similar and overlapping sports
 
i think the straight air is stylish here. I'm sure he can mix it up a bit and probably will in his olympic runs. This run just has so much energy. he is certainly boosting. it's good that all snow sports continue to progress. i was wondering why he wasn't in the summer x games. looks like time well spent.
