Not at all. I grew up watching him and reading about him in snowboard magazines. He's only a couple years older than me, so I looked up to him and figured if he could do it, maybe I could end up being a pro snowboarder someday too. I think the guy gets way more hate than he deserves, though I do think he brings some of it on himself with the "rockstar" persona. He seems to be a pretty level-headed guy in interviews and such, and I have always liked that he is able to dominate the sport while also spending time skateboarding, making music, etc. So he's a "sellout." Who really cares? If you had the opportunity to make stupid amounts of money because little kids wanted to buy things with your name on them, you wouldn't take advantage of that? The guy is living the dream.
 
He's a douche. I can understand that being in the spotlight had a massive effect on him but still plenty of people that were good, in the limelight, and didn't turn into douches.

He sort of ended up in the same boat as child stars in the movies. Shaun white was awesome when he was younger, than the constant dick riding from x games really started to change him.

And his rail game has been whack for almost decade.

That said, I hope he returns to competing sooner rather than later. Say what you want about him as a person, but he is damn fun to watch in the pipe.
 
He was great, and a true hero. The skiing and snowboarding communities could learn a lot from him. Other people are just jealous that he knows Justin Timberlake and has pro model gear. You guys are just mad you'll never be as COOL[/u] as him, and that's ok. Shaun doesn't need you, he has me.

You really think Shaun White has no friends just because he isn't friends with the guys he competes against? He shunned the community as much as the community shunned him. The only reason anyone resents him is because he is so good, and, again, he doesn't seem to care.

First off, I think the dude is a pretentious fuck. But my big issue with him is how he looks at snowboarding. He's made it into a pure competition. That's all it is to him, another chance to build his résumé. There are plenty of other pros out there that compete but still ride because they love it, not to win another event or land the newest trick.

But seriously, the #yoloflip? Are you fucking kidding me?
 
He isn't pretentious, learn what the word means, he literally is the most dominate snowboarader of all time... The guy is a legend, not pretentious. But he is a douche bag, like I legit think he is a horrible person, after watching that documentary on kevin pearce just wow, huge douche.

Point is I don't like him, but almost entirely for his personality... The guy brought a lot of money and exposure into snowsports. Give credit and respect where it's due. But he is a dbag.
 
Hate to be the first person to mention this, but in no way does that say he is retiring and I'm pretty sure he isn't.
