shawn white def more accomplished than tanner. but what is it about these 2 top guys - have to be short and ugly to be at the top? whats with the face mask on shawn?

When I was at school there was a piano player who went on to become one of the best in the world at house and nu-disco (a perfectionist I'm sure.) It turned out he was/is camp/homo. He was very hard to get along with, and many people wanted to play with him - but he didn't want to. He was either really nice or just plain nasty. You needed to be perfect like him for him to accept you. But when you have that skill, you can get away with being bastard and the skill won't go away, nor will the opportunities. I think he's bi now. (I really don't care for knowing except that it helps in being able to picture someone.)

To cut a long story short, I suspect if you're camp with some straight tendencies, but super talented, and young and growing up, there are many benefits at keeping people at an arm's length away (including that they can be simply be hard to relate to.) You don't want to get found out as the stigma could get in the way of your success, it could also injure your precarious self-esteem.

But as someone said about love, it's a never-ending flow of forgiveness. Now as soon as you forgive yourself for not-winning, maybe that's the end of your winning streak... and your sexuality... or the start.

Now this is just for a music guy... add sport, money and fame to the mix and you MIGHT have SW. I am really just speculating.
 
just to think you can be so good that people will grow to find you corny... The hate for him these days would surprise these folks 12 years ago
