Shattered hockey rink glass? anyone done it?

I had seen glass brake (plexiglass or tempered) just once in 15+ years, and i dont even remember it clearly... i just have a faint memory of it happening.

well until a couple days ago, when i was able to shatter an entire plane behind the net with a 1 handed swing. Unintentional of course, i meant to hit the boards, but hit the very bottom of the glass and the whole thing pretty much exploded. it was at the end of the game, and i was pissed cause we just lost in overtime. Just mens leauge, and thankfully it was the last game of the night at midnight, so no one playing after us got screwed.

but, the rink wants to hit me up for over 500$ to replace it.

Has anyone ever broken the glass or known anyone who has? Should that just be in the maintenance costs with the team fees i pay every season. Cause this league jacks the price every new season summer or winter, and from what i see and hear is the most profitable rink in ontario. LOL oh and im suspended indefinately until its settled, along with me whole team.

 
i never shattered the glass but did put a puck through it at one point with a slap shot that went over the net during high school, i didn't have to pay for it seeing as it was unintentional, but i could understand why the rink would want to charge you for breaking it. that shit isn't cheap
 
thats shitty ive never seen it while playing. you should maybe pay for some because its almost ;ike you did it purpose
 
no, but I once packed a fatty dip then titty-fucked a slut while doing a keg stand and mobbing my truck over freshman.
 
yeah im looking for a way to pay for some, just not 100%

ive played 9 seasons at this rink (not years) im looking to get some sort of good will deal here, ive got no prior history, so looking for leniency of course.

We (the fans) did it last year at our high school's playoff game. We had a comeback win against the 1st seeded team, and we just went nuts. Knocked one of the panes off, and it shattered when it hit the ice.

Ive personally never seen anyone break the glass, its pretty tough but i can see where your arena is coming from. if you had just hit it with the puck its not your fault but a swing at it with the stick is a bit more intentional anyways $500 is pretty expensive i think you should maybe just have to pay for the labour or go help the guys put it in i mean it akes a lot to break that stuff its really thick
 
I've shattered glass but it wasnt on purpose.It was just a hard check to weak glass, the guy i checked didnt even get hurt.
 
Back in grade school we had an outdoor rink and i got the glass to crack on that, a couple people put pucks through it and in highschool I cracked the glass again on an indoor rink, but ive never seen it shatter, thats pretty bad ass
 
that was a beastly hit, but it was slightly illegal, he left the ice when he hit him, which is actually worthy of a misconduct
 
Absolutely refuse to pay, you hitting it with your stick is like the straw that broke the camels back those things take so much abuse eventually they give in you did nothing it shouldn't be able to withstand it just weakend over time and finally broke
 
i broke the latch off the penalty box door when i hit a kid through it but i've never broken or seen the glass break
 
i took a clapper and shattered the glass once during practice and the rink tried to pin the cost on me. my coach just had me change and bolt before they found me
 
well you said it was a 1 handed swing because you were pissed you lost in overtime? Or was it during game play during a check? What ever the ref tells the rink owners is pretty much going to decide if you should pay for it or not. And $500 is an extremely fair price for it.
 
Yeah i'd say you have to pay for it
it wasn't during normal play and you were pissed off so... that's not really something the rink should be forced to absorb
