Sharpen or dull my skis?

Not this. Dull them under foot for about 6-8 inches going each way out from the front and back binding and in between the bindings. Leave the rest relatively sharpened for SOME edge hold on groomers and such.

Not file!!!!!!!!!! Will trash your edges permanently. Use sanding sponge or wet stone, but the sponge is the best.

i wouldn't go around fucking with your skis like that, especially if you are new to park. the more you hit rails, the more your edges will dull so you will be fine. if you have to ask our advice on whether to file your edges, you probably need our advice on how to do it too. so really ask yourself, "how often am i going to be using these in the park" before you do things that are difficult and potentially expensive to fix if you don't like it.

your gonna take a file, and VERY LIGHTLY file over the sharp part of the edge under the boot and bindings until it looks dull enough for your likings.

use a gummy or diamond stone on your edges and file them down so that when you rub a finger nail against it, it no longer leaves a mark. starting and ending a few inches before and after your bindings

So I ski park all the time and I always dull them but my friend said not too so I thought I would get a better oppinion

3 degree edge bevel all around, dull underfoot with a diamond/ gummi stone. The bevel will keep your edges from catching while still remaining sharp. Its pretty sweet.

oh good point, never really tried that. I don't really work on my edges anymore, maybe ill give it a shot. My grip has been pretty bad this season.

Any skier I've ever talked to says dull them under foot. You want a rounded edge man, that way you get more surface area for gripping the rail.

SHARP EDGES UNDERFOOT CATCH!

dull them with a file, dont be a bitch. then use a gummy stone to get rid of the burrs the file leaves.

but if the rails are sketchy, say like 90% of east coast rails are, wouldn't you want to not have super sharp edges underfoot so they wont catch on all the chips/ice/shitty paint? I understand the more grip thing, but I don't think you want that kind of digging-into-the-rail grip, I've dulled my edges underfoot for a while and I don't have any trouble gripping/scissoring on rails and getting good hold

all right, I'll have to give it a try sometime, + vibes/karma to you if your right, my rail game needs all the help it can get

Ski Gabber is so fucking easy to troll. But still, was a job well done. I wouldn't have admitted troll though.

That's the best part. Or if you just feel guilty about one person fire 'em a PM and hope they don't snitch

I have never caught an edge on a rail and i sharpen my edges all the way. You guys must be sliding some pretty soft metal for your edges to dig in.

kellen i knew you were full of shit from your first post. all this stuff about locking onto a rail coming from a kid who is all about the pow

its actually kinda true though. i find that with skis that are super dull, and freshly waxed, it can be hard to grip rails. spinning out and pretzeling can be tougher with extremely dull skis. still, you are going to want pretty round edges if youre newish to rails.

If you have access to a wet-grinder, that's definitely your best bet if you don't feel like filing the edges down. My buddy did it to his bangers last year and they were silky smooth on all the rails. When I say WET-grinder, yes thats the one with water. Otherwise you can stress the edges with too much heat and they'll snap.
