Sharp edges on rails and boxes?

ok guys so i just got my edges sharpened at my local ski resort today and went home to just hit my winter setup of pvc rails. As i was doing so my skis caught and i fell almost every time. Do edges need to be detuned for rails? i see threads about this all the time on here...and i'm going actuall skiing tomorrow and I'm hoping i won't catch on regular metal rails will i? all comments appreciated

why did you sharpen your edges in the first place?

i have never sharpened my park skis,

but to asnwer your question it sure does help a lot of dull edges under foot

sharpened edged will most likely catch on metal boxes and rails. after a few runs they wont be as sharp, but just be aware that detuned edges are best for rails

Use a handfile and detune underfoot, and a couple inches in front of and behind your binding for shit like boxes. You're doing it right if you see little bits of metal or curly metal strands. Just take a bit off and round it out. That should take that nasty bite out.

i've just been hitting rails with my brand new skis and found it's ten times easier to hit rails than boxes with sharp edges...i dont know why its like this with me but i found that boxes catch way more on sharp edges

This is the best way to have your park ski set up. I don't go super sharp in the tip and tail, but enough to edge to edge carve turns well. Rounded underfoot, prevents catching on rails and boxes and helps keep your edges from cracking and breaking underfoot.

weird, I've only once or twice in my life caught my edge on metal but I'm still working on not catching on pvc rails(what I'm using in my garden)
