Sharing My Newfound Idea

As I was mulling around, longing for the start of the season, I had an idea. I wanted some way to up my rail game, but I didn't feel like building a setup, as it would simply take too much time, and I needed to ski now. I thought and thought and thought, and I came up with something.

I remembered that I for some reason had these carpet slider things that go on your shoes, called fun slides. My idea was to put those on my shoes, and slide across either my pvc rail or a metal pole. My pvc rail is like 18 inches high, and I didn't want to fucking die so I decided to put an 8ft long steel dock pole I had on the ground, to try to slide across as you would with skis. You could also use pvc.I tried this, and I was overcome with a great feeling, as I had discovered a way to practice your balance for rails and stuff without needing an expensive setup. It didn't cost me a thing, as I had everything, but if you were to buy it would probably only cost like 20 bucks or less. You could also set it up like a down rail if you wanted to, or set it up so its higher.

Anyways, sorry for wasting your time if this is a stupid idea, but it worked amazing for me and I think it would be a great way to practice your rail game without needing a setup. It really stimulates the feeling of being on a rail. Just thought id share

only thing would be that your skis would feel 3 miles long and 2 tons after sliding around these babies for a summer. Solid idea for cheap tho

I'll post some footy tomorrow if I can. The only problem about them is they're slide, so running before you jump on is a bit tricky. You get the hang of it tho and they work great

Totally do it! True, not the same as having on ski boots and skis, but it's got to be good for balance!

If one could make a plate in the sole so it would be hard and flat and not like a moccasin that would be even better for practice. Good luck.

Ha ha. Someone was thinking there. That would not be good to have that shape.

I totally get the idea though.

Maybe the OP could find a new use for ski blades! Put that stuff on them like skins!

Per request of the ns community. Still getting the hang of it, it probably world work better if I had a longer rail but it works. Poor mans summer setup? haha

press the help drop down arrow and it gives you all you need to know. I believe you need to post it somewhere else before embedding

Turn on the editor on the tab below. Use the "embed" button above. Use the URL of the video, not an embed code. YT and Vimeo should embed.

You can also just post us a link to the URL where the video is. I don't think a NS video can be embedded here so just post the link if that is the case..

Nice! Now you can use a metal slide to drop in. Longer tube and about six inches off the ground! You might just have something there!

You could probably find yourself an old pair of Soaps on ebay as well.

Was just gonna say, does anyone remember soap shoes?! Good to know I'm not that old.
