alright guys here is the deal...
i am doing a project for my Journalism class, and i am going to create a idea/pitch for a website that is to develop a new experience for users and creators.
so what i ask from you NS is what would you like to see in a website... i am going to try and gear it towards the outdoors(skiing and biking etc) along with other lifestyle areas such as art, music and some news...
If there is anything that you think websites today are lacking please share them with me.... i want to create something that truly created for the people who will be using it, if there are improvements on an existing website that you would like to see, let me know as well

ahaha no but seriously, I think that an online chat would be sick. pretty much ns has it all. they used to have a chat. that would be pretty sweet. maybe like a direct ask the expert kind of thing about equipment?

no one is by any stretch of the mind doing my work for me, i am trying to create a product that people want and have input on

i cannot do this with out first finding out what it is the public wants, as simple as that
 
well i would say for a new media innovations site i would have a lot to due with user submitted content and i think live chats would be very interesting. Such as for every video there could a live chat with it so while people are watching the movies they can activly talk to other who are watching the same video. granit this would only work if the site and movie itself was popular enough for people to be watching it at the same time. Also you we obviously need forums but i would say keep it simple. and just try and have the most user interactivity as possible. people could vote on news topics they think are the most imoprtant and the most popular ones would be the ones on the homepage. but they would all be created by the site not links to other sites news articles.

i don't know thats some random crap haha hope it helps in some way
 
i think most websites are lacking what NS has, which is everything. we've got forums, contests, videos, photos, member profiles, personal messaging, updates from almost every team in the industry, resort updates, product reviews, downloads, podcasts, news, blogs, polls, a store, etc.

if every website had as much content as NS, the internet would be a happier place. the fact that users can give their opinions on almost anything the site has to offer is great too, you don't see that on enough sites.

It sounds like a way too broad idea...it's trying to be too much. A site for skiers that has the news? Uhh...no, I don't think that works. Arts and news? Yeah manybe, but then it's going to turn out to be just another networking site (think ns, skicolonies).
Or is this trying to be some sort of "custom news experience" site where you can customize exactly what news you want?
