Shane, You Will be Missed.

Wow RIP. Doesn't do him right. One of the coolest and funniest people I have ever seen. He definitely changed skiing and he will truly be missed.

RIP Shane. You were an inspiration and will be missed. My Shane McConkey huck doll....

gosh this is terrible to hear.iv grown up seeing him in movies. and idolozing him as a hero. he had some pretty funnny stuff in yearbook too.. rest in peace mister MConkey. and may your family be able to cope with out you.

Worst thing i've heard in a while. He's got a kid too. Saddest thing ever. This guy inspired me to go skydiving on my 18th and it was the best thing i've ever done. RIP to the fullest extent of the phrase.

I can't even believe this. Something about McConkey was the first ski movie I ever bought and it got me so stoked on skiing. Shane is the reason I quit racing to do my own thing on the hill. He also showed how much fun skiing is. He's a legend that will never be forgotten. RIP

can't believe it.....after seeing "there's something about McConkey" for the first time many years ago it opened my eyes to the potential that skiing had and that led me to continue skiing and eventually fall in love with it. RIP shane, you will always be remembered.

Almost every time I ski, for at least one run, I make some big slash turns and say "McConkey turn, McConkey turn, M c C o n k e y t u r n" like Eric Hjor says on MSP's PUSH. He was incredible and I always enjoy his hard charging and high spirit skiing. Shane will be missed. My season is over but I will continue my little "McConkey turn" tradition through the years to come.

mcconkey fathered the rockered ski, a daughter, saucer boy and a legacy. Mcconkey was and is the face of skiing.

I first saw Shane in Steep which was, coincidentally, about another ski legend's death, Doug Coombs. If you haven't seen Steep, I suggest you do. McConkey has some sick footage in there. Seemed like such an awesome person. Rest In Peace Shane

Wow. This dude was one crazy sob, and he knew the risks of what he did better than any of us ever will but chose to overcome that and push on to accomplish things that most people could only dream of. As crazy as his last minutes must have been, fact remains he still died doing something he loved to do and something he was great at. Don't mourn the death of Shane, instead celebrate the birth of a legend.

i cant belive this has happened.
RIP to the god father of all that was skiing, being urself, and having fun.
to a father, a husband, and one fucking hell of a skier, REST IN POWDER.

Rest in peace Shane. I have a Shane huckdoll sitting around here somewhere. I remember buying it and flipping it all over the place when I was little. He will be missed.

Personally one of my best days yet......tomorrow will be dedicated to him........RIP Shane, one of the best big mountain skiiers out there

this news completely ruined my day too. tomorrow in school its gonna be even worse. Such an awesome figure that represented what the sport of extreme skiing really was, left, the face of our earth at just the age of 41, on a routine base jump. how can a man like him, who has done nothing wrong, but help us all realize who we are, and inspire us to be who we want to be, and just be the symbol for extreme skiing, be taken away from our hearts like this? i guess that God thought that he had completed his journey not only for himself, but also for his family, this not including his wife and daughter, but the whole ski community that has suffered by this tragic loss.
i had to stop about 6 times writing this bcuz it was so emotional. no joke

Most likely the craziest, ballsiest skier out there. The guy would ski anything, then when he couldn't he'd jump off it. Balls of STEEL! Pushed the envelope like no one else. He will truly be missed. RIP Shane.

4-10 inches expected tonight along with 8inches today at aspen. If we get a snowday im dedicating everysingle one of my faceshots to him.

RIP Shane, you will be missed but never forgotten. Shane's segments and hilarity inspired me so much when I was younger. He continued to kill it over the years. This sport owes so much to him.
