I got a text from a friend about an hour ago saying that Shane had passed away... I was completely shocked and blown away. Shane, you shredded harder than anybody else and I remember the first time I saw footage of you skiing I was in disbelief at what could be done on skis. You single handedly pushed the sport to an entirely new level. Shane, you will forever be the fucking man!
RIP

fuck i can't believe thishe was in a way a total hero of mine, so terrible to hear about this
RIP Shane, you were the man

holy shit

That guy will most definitely be missed...holy shit i can even talk. I am so sad.

I remember being so stoked seeing him doing backflips off huge cliffs in some old ski movies, one of the things that really got me into skiing.

rest in peace Shane.

I grew up watching Shane in all the matchstick movies. I can't even believe this news. You are an unbelievable skier Shane and your love for the sport has pushed me to love skiing as well. RIP man.

wow, a shitty day just got a lot worse. +++++ vibes+++++ to shane's family and extended family down in tahoe.

Tomorrow everyone needs to go throw some big spreads, backflips, drink whiskey from the bottle, and shred a little bitter harder for shane. RIP saucer man

its wierd to think someone like shane is dead, everything i saw of him he was in a super good mood, goofing off, trying new things, and just extremely active overall. its just wierd when someone so alive dies.

he's my favorite big mountain skier, most big mountain skiers seem to have this serious "im a badass" attitude, but shane was like a little kid, he did it all purely for fun.

i guess the good thing is that he died doing something awesome, im sure shane would rather die doing something crazy like ski base jumping, rather than choking on apple sauce at 90 years old. he may have died at a very young age, but he lived more than pretty much anybody else.

you know man wtf.

seriously he ripped at skiing, has a kid and a wife, why the fuck does this horrible shit happen.

RIP Shane, this sucks

hearing this just absolutely knocked me over. in other sports peoples idols dont die off this way. i grew up loving doug coombs, then bam. and now this.

My thoughts and love go out to his family, as you can see from everything written above this was a good man who lived a full and unabashed life - may you live on in us.

Ok, so when I watched "Claim" in the fall my friend and I went and bought saucers. our plan was to give tribute to Saucer Boy when spring fell.

Well, now - I think the saucer tribute is more necessary than ever.

I know I am a man of words and not pictures and videos, but I promise - I will have video of this.
