SEXISM: ZERO TOLERANCE

Hey ladies,

I just wanted to take a moment to reach out to the newer members and remind the older members that NS has a zero tolerance policy on sexism, or any discriminatory hate, here in this community. If someone puts you down for being a girl, or deliberately targets you in any way that makes you feel uncomfortable or is degrading to you because of your gender, or age, or anything at all, PLEASE LET A MOD KNOW. Those of us invested in the NS community have worked really hard to bring things around and restore the positive and supportive community of people who love freeskiing that NS was always intended to be; we cannot do this without communication and help from all of you.

Please let a mod know if there are intensely negative and deliberately malicious comments or posts anywhere on the site, they will delete them and work with the poster to resolve the problem. Please let your fellow NS'ers, especially us ladies, if you feel like you are being a target as well, because part of what makes this a community is that we are in this together, you never have to deal with these sorts of problems alone. Idly standing by and allowing another member to be negatively targeted for any reason makes you a part of the problem as well.

NS promotes a positive and supportive community, help all of us by defending those principles and please let us know what more we can do.

Also wanted to talk about criticism on videos/ photos. Us, just like men can get heat, not everyone has to like everything we post. If it's blatant, unjustified hate, it can be removed upon review in some cases. Other times, we have to just step up and have each other's back And defend those comments. I think that part is huge. We want to remove hate, but we also owe it to ourselves to set a standard and not baby ourselves through progression.

Keep being awesome ladies! And again, let a mod know about sexism cause fuck that shit!

just know that harrassment is not tolerated, and criticism is, but remember to keep your interactions along the lines you would like others to interact with you and those will continue to pop up less frequently.

Definitely agree on the support. Pink names are generally way more supportive than the dudes and it makes me so goddamn proud. I have dude NSr friends who say whenever they browse Ladygabber they're shocked at how nice we all are to each other. It's great!

Fuck the fucking haters. They make me rage. If they have time in their lives to sit there and write negative and helpless comments on videos, then that's just a reflection on their piss poor lives.

I so appreciate this post. I've seen some ridiculous harassment on here and it makes me so angry. I've even witnessed it on other sites besides newschoolers and it is uncalled for and total nonsense. If anyone is getting hate that they absolutely don't deserve, I will back you up 100%. Thank you for bring this to everyone's attention.

Do you believe there is gender inequity or a lag in progression of women’s involvement in your chosen sport? (If yes, please explain)

Do you feel like an “other” in comparison to men involved in your chosen sport?

Has there been a time when you felt great support from all genders involved in your sport?

Do you know of any specific movements to help females progress faster or at the same rate as males in your chosen sport?

Yeah the harassment is pretty ridiculous sometimes. I used to get some pretty awful PM's on here and tumblr. It comes from a select few; 95% of the people on here usually aren't going to give you shit, but those who do tend to ruin it for some. Which is pretty sad in my opinion.
