Seth Vicious or Public Enemy

So I face a critical choice, which pair to get for the coming season. I really like both of them, and really need to get off my old Lines. I mean, they did well for me, but they are old and beat to heck, so it is time for new gear. That, and my terrain has switched up a bit.

So here is the run down. I am about 170 to 180 lbs, and live in MI. My home resort is Boyne Mountain, so I will be hittin it there for about 90% of the time. Maybe a bit of the Highlands, both will be worth it this year. Last few years I have been going to school up in Marquette at NMU, graduated last year. While I was up there, I kinda changed from a park rat to an all-mountain boy. Lots of glade, a bit of backcountry, and last year I started to hit the park again. Lets just say rails are not yet my friend.

Anyways, my primary terrain now will be about half park/pipe and half the rest of the mountain. I am planning at least one trip up to the UP to hit Bohemia. By far the best midwest slopes. May head up to Marquette to see old friends, and hit the backcountry that is supposedly opening up.

With this said, do the Public Enemys ('06) have enough float to handle Bohemia? Coming from park skis, to the closest thing K2 has in their line to all-mountain, I am a little worried about their float. I would like the shorter length, and quicker turn, esspecially in the glades.

Oh, and I get a discount at BCS, so don't try to talk me into a pair not carried there. Basically, choices are K2, Salomon, Rossignal, and Atomic. So out of those, I choose K2.

Get the PE's. I had a pair of the 05/06's for a while and they were great. Sick park and pipe skis, plenty of float, and great edge hold.

PEs... the vicious are more stiff then the PE correct? and may be a little too too much of what you are looking for in a ski. Don't get me wrong from what i have read and talked to people you can take the seths anywhere, but the PEs just seem like a more realistic choice for you, if you were going to be skiing way more pow i would say seths but u live in the midwest and the PEs would be perfect

wow, u really can not compare those two skis my friend.....

also y k2? i love the vicious, but in all seriousness, it sounds like u really wouldnt need them at all.

do your self a favor and look at the salomon foil. it sounds like that would fit ur style nicely, except for the fact that u might be a little large for said ski. in that case, i would say to look at the sprayer bc (rossignol), which is last yrs bc. it isnt that wide and would be a very nice compromise between the vicious and the enemy.

pe's fit you perfectly. theyll also make for a good BC ski. itll float you fine unless your in unheard of snow depth for that region.

pow skis are generally soft as it makes them nicer in the soft stuff and easier to control. the PE is made for charging all mtn and going into the park so its stiffer.Remember the pistols they were very soft. the vicious is hardly any stiffer.

i find that a dissapointment. i wanted the pistols and vicious to be more of a big mountain ski. i like my big skis stiff. the ANT and JP/Julein demonstrate that well. i find it frightening when your hauling down a steep and about to launch over a band of rocks to have your tips chattering over each other.

JP's stiff? ur kidding right?

I have to say im the opposite of you. i prefer my skis soft. but then again i am light for my height.i find softer skis alot more fun.

you can definitally compare those 2 skis why wouldnt you be able to.

pow - vicious

groomers - pe

park - personal preferance, if you like a fat ski the vicious, if you like a fairly stiff park ski, public enemy

you could definitally make a very good comparison with these skis. im just making assumptions though because i havent skied the vicious' yet

Ya i was kind of in your situation. I live out east so I dont get alot a pow so I ride a bit of park. I still love to ski pow when I get a chance so i needed a ski that could hande both. I could have gone iether way but I chose the PE's and there doing just fine in the park while still giving me enough float to charge big mountian lines when I can.

I live in the east, and i got a pair of the vicious this season, they are amazing everywhere, groomers, trees, pow, they do it all. I even take them in the park every now and then, But I also have a pair of scratches that i really use as my park ski. I would go with the vicious because its just a lot of fun to ski and it does everything. Wether you have the snow for it or not, its still a sick ski and well worth it.

well everyone has the PE's...

most good arguments have already been made, only other ski's i'll suggest are Pocket Rocket's (now 1080 GUN) Or Scratch BC...both are wider skis, but could do park as well.
