Best all-around ski ever. They have shitload of pop - with the same speed as your normal skis you will go way bigger on jumps or out of the pipe. They seem a little heavy before you get used to them, and they are a little harder to throw around while spinnin (i got the 189s) Depending on your size the 169 and 179 are sick park skis, and the 189s kill it all around. They are super confidence builders too. Youll start charging shit youve never done before in no time.

i have them in the 79 and have been skiing on them since dec so almost all year they are awesome in pow and i love them actually as an everyday ski as well.

The sidecut is real nice so you can cruise all mountain with them a little nsketchy on ice and not so good in moguls obvipously.

As far as riding them in the park they are real nice a lot of energy and suprisingly more pop then i expected from a ski that flexes soft in the store but doesnt really ride soft. Pocket rockets feel stiffer but ride way softer same thing on the bc,s.

Countrary to mammoths feeling on them being heavy i thought they were light and i have a look bind. wich is a heavy binding.

I have fiddled with a few dif. mounting positions and if your going to ride them in the park mainly or a lot u need to mount them at least 2 forward. If you are riding them exclusively bc then i would go 1 to 2 bacck i tried them at 3 and i felt way backseat even in pow.

Right now they are 1 back and i ride them 70% pow 20% all mtn. and 10% park.

Depending on the size ski you go with also makes a dif if you are ridding a lot of bc pow then i would go 89 and mount them midsole or 1 back unless you are a really big guy.

The problem with having them mounted back and riding park is when you spin it puts you back seat a lot.

So if youre looking to ski them evrywhere then i would mount them either midsole or prob 1 forward.

I have skied them at midsole in pow and they were awesome.

So if you riding in the park with them more than 10% of the tim go forward on the mount dont worry they will still float and kick ass in powder.

I hope that mad some sence and helps some.

If you go with the ski you wont regret it.

There too wide for me, If you live in the east like me, there are better skis for our conditions. If you want to ski just park or groomers on them, dotn get them, there are other skis specifically designed for that. Other than that, they are pretty amazing. Turn well in everything and pretty god pop for a more BC oriented ski. A little soft though.

who wants to get a good ski for groomers, besides racers of course. I just want a good ski for Alta everyday so usually pow or crud and lots of bc jumps. I think 189 is the way to go and mount them a centimeter back, i guess they wont be to big or beefy for big backcountry jumps anyone think?

I rode a pair for a weekend. At first... I found they were too soft to be considered a good overall ski. For the park only, I'd say they are some of the best around when you get used to the weight. But by the end of the weekend... I still found they were too soft haha. Depends on the person though I guess... really like to carve my turns hard.

I ride the 179s, and I think they're the perfect size for me. I can still ski them well in the park (they have tons of stability on jumps) and they ski awesome through everything else. My only complaint is that the turn initation on steeper terrain gets a little hung up on the tail edges, but it's not a big deal once you get your rhythm down. Overall a sick ski!

i dunno, the seth pistols look beefier than the mothership, the motherships look kinda flimsy, they probably aren't thy just lok that way

I was gonna get them this season, but skipped out. Back snow season. Just wait until next season. Can't wait for the new graphic in the next year or two. When you mean it has a lot of pop, by how much compared to other skis? I ride the enemys and so do the pistols have more pop than those?

yo...the sp's are soooo soft. but good...

if you have riden them you know they are not soft.

As far as pop compared to the enemy i thought the enemy at the time it was on top of the game had some of the best pop and i would say the pistol is pretty simmilar.

Has better pop than pockets for sure and even better than scratch bc. good pop like motherships but a different feel.

The Pistols have the 'Torsion Box' construction, which means that the middle third of the ski is constructed with a spruce core, but the core does not extend all the way to the tip or tail, thus making the ski stiff as hell in the middle and soft on the tip and tail. If you flex the ski in the shop, you'll probably think that it feels incredibly soft, but try flexing it at a 10 degree angle to the ground, and you'll see that it is definitely NOT soft.

what the fuck are you guys talking about saying they are not soft? i have 2 pairs out in my garage, and they are soft as shit...what are you comparing them too? k2 poacher? i never said soft is bad...and well...soft is what they are...go ahead, and prove me wrong here...but what do i know? not like ive ever been skiing...and not like my dad and uncle have either...

i'll probably demo a pair at High North this summer, it'll be sick. I live in the midwest, so i really don't have much of a use for them, so i got some PEs (just came in the mail today), but i just wanna see how they ride, just for fun.

im telling you that i ride them and yes there not a stiff ski but they are not soft they have a soft tip and tail by desighn for landing but the heart of the ski is not soft.

compared to pocket rockets they are a lot stiffer prob a bit stiffer than bc,s or mothers not as stiff ass armada or atomic.

they are not soft, but the tip and tail are???then how the fuck are they not soft? thats like saying your gay, but not...they are soft...thats final. or do we need to get mike gutt, the k2 team manager to come on here and tell you? would that solve everything?

Salomon2003 is exactly right with the flex thing. That goes for all of the other skis out there too. When you flex a ski at a shop, you hold the ski at like 80degrees. That's not how you land. Hold the ski lower and it all of a sudden gets stiff. You feel the real flex of the ski. the center of the pistol doesn't flex.

aint no prick about me...i get sick of people saying shit...that aint true...and well, i am one to know about my shit in skiing...not trying to be cocky...but its true...and if i say a ski is soft, then most likely it is soft...go ahead...tell me its stiffer than the public enemy...didnt think so. wow...the ski is soft...yay for me.
