As far as the media being biased is concerned. Many people feel that all the reports are only telling the people what they want to hear and are avoiding the bad news. This is simply not true. The press is jumping to conlcusions on everything before it can be confirmed. Such as an explosion in a residential area of Baghdad. The press immediately reported that it was from coalition bombing. When it could be very possible that Saddam's forces could have set it off in an effort to create anti-war sentiment against the coalition. Saddam's forces are also dressing up as US troops and accepting surrenders of their own troops. They are then executing them. This is the kind of people we are dealing with. NO redard for human life or the Geneva Convention.

I think if people wanted clean water and hospitals and roads and bridges, they would pay for it. It could be done. For example, the US has proven healthcare can be provided on a private level. This was never thought to be possible. And the bonus of that is you dont get the government saying at budget time 'we cant account for a billion dollars here or a billion there.' In other words, you eliminate beaueaucracy and get efficiency. People are capable of providing for themselves without being forced. Think of the millions spent chasing and imprisoning people in the 'war on drugs' - chasing people around with baggies of plants just because old ladies think weed turns young boys into rapists. I mean doesnt that chap your ass? You get a speeding ticket for doing 10mph over the limit while little girls are getting kidnapped and chopped up and thrown in woodpiles and the guy gets away. Why dont the cops focus on whats important and slash their funding while your at it because YOU PAY FOR IT ALL. Politicians know they dont do shit. All they do is keep the average person just happy enough to show up at the next election. Thier aim is not to help society, but merely to survive another scandal-filled day. They get paid to funnel around funds forcibly taken from the public. And whats frustrating is most people think we cant do without them. Look at Britain - Tony Blair went to war when 2/3 of his people opposed it. I thought democracy was 'rule of the majority'. If Britain is not a democracy, what is it? A facist dictatorship? The english dont have to go to Iraq to find a tyrant, they have one running the place!

First and foremost the war is best seen as a pre-emptive strike. Conservative estimates have placed Iraq going nuclear by 2005 without intervention and more pessimistic estimates have stated later in 2003. The Israeli attack in the 1980's (I forget when exactly) on the Iranian nuclear reactors were condemned at the time but generally lauded presently as Iran would no doubt have the bomb by now. While anyone has the right to possess the bomb, there is no doubt a concern for extortion as with North Korea. The coalition has legitimate reasons for attacking Iraw; legality is another concern altogether.

SU, did you know that chemicals are used in many things? There are chemicals in toothpaste, baby powder, preservatives, rubber, even MEDICINES! Did you know that most civilized nations in the world have factories that make these chemicals? Yes, indeed, Iraq is a civilized and industrialized nation. If I come stumbling across a Dow Chemicals factory somewhere in Ohio, sure it makes chemicals... just because it's a chemical factory doesn't mean it makes evil poison bombs.

Wow, all the posts on this site say the same thing over and over again. I've watched some of the news on T.V. but I really don't pay to much attention to it. Many people have their opinions on the war and if we should be at war or not. And as the media is given to us you can not be sure if it is a tad-bit propogandanized (not sure if that's a word but while being half trashed it sounded cool). This is why I would like each and every one of you to go to a search engine and search for a paper over seas that has claimed nuetrality. Norway is a pretty good choice. You will read anywhere from full support of the war to people that beleive America is really just another Hitler just with more people controlling the country. Why do I say that you should read this? Well the main reason is ever since WWII the goverment gave the media a strict policy which says if our country goes to war the media must only present what the goverment wants to show to the American people. Don't believe what I say or what other people say because they are all lies. Mainly my point is this, at the begining of the war you saw live coverage of repoters on trucks driving towards cities that were going to be attacked. Then the coverage stoped and you never saw live coverage again so really don't know what is out there. But some papers in other countries have looser laws on what they put in papers and what they show on T.V.

yea except for more than half of the peace protestors dont know shit....some can justify their beliefs, which is totally understandable, but i have witnessed that most are just standing by their hippie beliefs that war is bad without really having an understanding of whats going on. they just preach hate towards bush just as they would hate towards any republican president who is attempting to solve a problem.
