Serious discussion..how far can freeskiing go?

in time.. everything will be brought back to the roots.

isnt that how everything works? history repeats itself.

all the comps use to be moguls, now its slopestyle halfpipe and railjams. moguls will comeback on the scene and slopestyle and railjams will almost be forgot then out of now where they will bust back.

it will work its selfout so that we are not going to be doing triple flips off 180+ jumps...

atleast lets pray that it doesnt.

the sickest thing ive seen in skiing is something only pk hunder has done, i think its call a stall

also i think spin delays will be cool in the future, like waiting for a little before you shut you body and start spinning like this guy does at 15 sec in this video

I see a future filled with step ups.

And I don't really care where the sport goes, as long as there is pow to ski and good equipment to do it with.

i say we throw away the jumps and just build rails and fun lil set ups and stuff so everyon forgets how to really spin and gets super good at rails...then we bring back the jumps, and the cycle starts all over!

I hate to say this, but I think we are gonna start to see some adversity soon. As our sport gets bigger more and more people are heading towards the park and, unfortunately more and more injuries are coming along with them. The front page of the Seattle PI yesterday was "Are some ski park jumps too risky?" This was the front page of a Saturday newspaper! We have already seen some resorts take all the jumps out of their parks, and unfortunately I think this may happen more and more.

On the other hand, I don't think parks will ever go away completely and I think the progression we see may lean more towards style. You can only spin so far before you hit the ground, and I think we are grabbing our skis just about every way we can. So lets make it look smooth.

Still plenty of room for progression here are my thoughts althouhg Ill never do any of it.

1. Corking spins out half way through like that snowboarder did at X.

2. Double grabs with big spins and double flips.

3. Pipe still has infinite possibility...ally oop kang?

4. You can always do more switch ups and more pretzels.

5. Lincoln switch up

6. new double flips...cork to rodeo or something like that.

things are probably going to get more and more complex...like linking stuff together with butters (ex. rail to butter to drop etc) or maybe making half pipe a part of huge slopestyle course...putting rails into back country lines....where going bigger is in some ways limited because of physics, danger, etc... getting more tech has no limitations...

word my mom told me to quit acting like i'm black cause i buy xl ski clothing. although i dress anti-black regularly. i called her a racist and she left me alone hahaha. i wonder that too though...

Just watch an absinthe snowboard movie.. thats where I hope we go.

or we can just spray gapers all day like Mark Frank.

think about skiing in 5 years

think about skiing in 20 years

now think about how crazy what cars we will drive in 20 years, what the new cell phone and ipod will look like and do in 20 years, what video production will be like in 20 years.

nuts

yea I doubt the "thug" look is going to last mroe than a couple more seasons. I got into rollerblading rally heavy like a decade ago and when I quit a few years back xxxl tall tees and sweatpants while skating was in and I see vids of skating now and evvvvvveryone has tight ass pants and xtra small tees lol

look at rollerblading, skateboarding and even snowboarding... your dont need bigger parks to progress, you only need more creativity and style to continue to move the sport forward. that means steeze, butters, hand drags, shifties, farve style double grabs, etc...

i think its all in the style and creativity. everything can be made smoother and stylie, as well as putting new twists (literally or figurativly) on old tricks. and then there is always the stuff that gagnier and parry do, which is completely original.

2 words. Jon Ollson. He's progressing freeskiing so much. With his crazy events and new double flips who knows where he will and can take it.

As far as tricks go, watch Thanks Brain and tell me what you think after, its mindblowing. The stuff is so creative and thats where Freeskiing needs to go. Heres a few edits from the movie:

we can definitly look at other sports like snowboarding and inline and see what they are doing. people hate on inline because it doesnt look steezy but it is pretty much the equivalent of skiing only without snow, like skating and snow boarding. some of the tricks they do in the halfpipe could be brought into skiing now especially as people like simon are getting so high and have the time to do them.

i think butters and hand drags will be used more on jumps. surprised that there have not been so many butters off jumps seeing as schiller did one with a 5 in x=10 i think it was which came out a few years back. i think different types of skis may also be created to enable different grinds or buttering easier etc. sounds a bit weird now but may be necessary in years to come to keep progressing the sport. i do think that a lot of wat people hate on now will become cool in future...

bump for the shit these guys are throwing down as QUALIFYING runs @ Dew Tour - seriously insane.

The tricks you need to get on a podium for a big event these days..

that thanks brain snowboarding stuff was sick. much respect to them.

it reminded me of andy parry and will wessons street skiing segment in head for the hills.

I think that whats next is going to be new grind tricks, stuff like Andy Parry was doing in the traveling circus webisodes. I think that'll be the next big thing, physics will limit whats possibly with spins and flips
