SERIOUS CROWBAR PROBLEM

hey i went to ski last weekend, kind of over cast i was like well i will use my goggles today, i pulled them out of my car then out of their bags to decide which lens i wanted to use, my high intensity amber polarized, or gold iridium. i looked through the ambers and i almost shit my pants. the inner lens had fan lines on it. like 25 lines from upper to lower same thing with the gold iridiums. this is like 230 dollars in "high quality" oakley lenses. the lines dont come off, they are part of the inner lens.

i am assuming because its spring and the goggles were in my hot car, the heat did that to the lens. they are both ruined and i am hoping oakley can give me new innner lenses. but i know they wont because their warranty department is a fuckin joke. dont let this happen to yours. even in a backpack, wrapped in a shirt in thier soft cases this happened to them just because it gets so hot in your car.

if oakley doesnt hook me up i am not getting another pair of oakley goggles ever. this thread hopefully will steer you from them if a little heat will destroy them.

damn that really sucks. is it lines on the inside? you can try to take the lenses apart to take them off then glue them back together

Oakley is top quality. I've never heard of that happening before.

Did you actually try contacting them?

Btw nice icon.

no doubt oakley makes a good product, but they suck balls with warrantying anything, and i never got them memo saying to keep them out of your hot car.

its almost like the inner lens melted in a uniform pattern, both lenses the same way.

and sorry i have an oakley icon im not all over changing it the second i have a problem, infact i could care less what my icon is.

Same exact thing happened to me. I left my crowbars on a heater with all my other ski stuff so it would dry. LIke a day later i notcie all these fan lines on the inner lense of the goggle. Its not that bad though because its not visible when you are wearing them and its not visible from the outside.

you should try. i fell really bad and cracked my lens in like 4 or 5 spots really bad. The lense was unusable after the crash. and i didnt want to dish out 70 dollars or whatever to replace my lense. so, i wrote a letter to oakley and sent it back. like 3 months later, after i had given up all hope, i recieved a brand new fire iridium lense. so stoked. moral of the story: oakley is awesome and you should try to atleast warrenty them.

call the oakley line and answer all of the questions that the voice acti ating system asks you when you are actually talking to a real person tell them what happened they will tell you to send the lenses back. It will be a 50 dollar warranty fee but they should give you 2 new pairs of lenses

thats not really oakleys fault for not warrantying... im fairly sure it says explicitly in the manual or whatever that you should not leave them in a hot car.

exactly. when i was in whistler two summers ago fog got into my inner lens. after awhile when it was in a colder area the fog evaporated.

i know you didnt do this but

it always makes me laugh when I see people who drive around with their goggles on the rear view mirror and snowboard strapped to the rack for months on end. Do people realize the kind of damage the sun does to your gear?

i was bored one day and was reeding these because i got some c-bar box's in my room and it says, dont leave goggles in the sun in your car, eg. on your dash/ mirror because they can be damaged
not exact words but it says it

thats sucks man, and I really hope that oakley will help you out, but I think that all google lenses from all companies are prone to damage when they get too hot.

they must use cheap plastic, because the only other plastic that gets distorted in the heat of a car that i know of is the plastic they use in cassette tapes. I would bitch to the customer service people if i were you.

i called but there was no warranty return option, it was for retailers. wierd. yea i assume the inner lens is just cheap plastic. the outside lens is the good stuff and that is fine.

i leave tons of shit in my car. thats the best place for it. if a little heat is going to ruin a 160 dollar lens then fuck that.

lol. your not supposed to leave anything really in your car. most electronics say the same thing. its not a little heat it gets fucking hot in there

the trunk of a car cant get anymore than 100 degrees. its in the shade cut off from windows, yea it gets hot i wouldnt leave a dog or kid in there but come on a pair of goggles?

hopefully they will replace the innner lens, but i made this thread partially to say dont leave your crowbars in your car, even if you skied until 4pm, and then get back out there at 10am.

and unfortunately i have to hike to my house another reason i leave my shit in the car.

I've only had excellent experiences with Oakley warranties. I went through three pairs of crowbars this season for lens issues that weren't positively Oakley's fault, and they were quick to get me replacements.

yeah just make some shit up, dont tell them you left em in your cari knwo my brother has had his lens repelaced lots fast and free.

don't do that, don't exploit them like that...

but if they're in your trunk, that should be warrantied by oakley. it definitely can't get that hot in there. i hear that in the cabin of the car it can get up to 200 degrees on sunny days
