so i seperated my shoulder on saturday and have to rest it/ wear a sling for 3 weeks. It couldve been worse and i'm happy that its only 2 weekends of the season that i'm missing

any other skiers on this site that have seperated their shoulder or know someone else that has?

i know some long term effects like a permanent bump on my shoulder and if i do it more severely again i might need surgery

how is skiing after a shoulder sep. and what stuff should i be careful of?

My friend separated his shoulder snowboarding last year. Not much you can do. Just put it in a sling and ice the shit out of it. What degree separation was it?

Oh and he doesn't have any problems with his shoulder now at all. I guess it just depends on how bad you separated. I wouldn't worry about any longterm effects if i were you.

i lost both arms in the second world war, snuck onto a plain an stowed away to nam, where il ost my other arm.......... waiit.....

I injured my shoulder last spring. Rolled hard on it on a bail, and it was very loose feeling. I never went to the doctors and still occasionally experience pain when throwing a football.

The best thing I can recommend is that once the doctor clears you to do it, so some exercises that will strengthen the muscles around your shoulder which will help prevent further injury.

shoulder injuries suck balls they will fuck you over for the rest of your life. I dislocated both shoulders last year. Every time you fall you re injure it. Make sure that you do rehab and such.

for real. listen to the doctors and dont disobey them. i disobeyed my physical therapist and didnt use my sling and now my shoulder still dislocates and i wish i had worked it out more. do you exercises but dont do more than they tell you.

Two years ago I dislocated my shoulder, and then in panic of not being able to breath, I tried to sit up using my arm, and my shoulder relocated itself REALLY wrong, resulting in everything busting off the joint completely. It was great..

But for real, I had either 8 weeks in a sling or surgery, DEFINITELY wear your sling for as long as you are required to, I wore mine for an extra week and a half. It might seem wicked lame for a week or two, but you get used to it soon enough. Atleast you're a guy and you wont have to have your mom do your hair every morning for school (hah!).

It hasn't bothered me much until this year when field hockey got really intense. I layed low for a couple days, and it definitely helped. Also, my right shoulder (the one I broke) is significantly lower then the other one, so I have to adjust all my bra straps and tank tops to fit right, which you wont have a problem with either, hah.

So all in all, you're pretty set. Just let it heal, do what the doctors say, and you'll be all good! Some discomfort from time to time, but I haven't had anything major yet (knock on wood!)

yea dislocations suck, but i seperated mine which means i smashed my collarbone and some other bone togethger, making my collarbone pop up like half an inch and it cant be fixed. i was just afraid of it being a pain after i healed

o and it was a 2nd degree seperation i think
