Senior year HS - Freshmen college >> Relationship survival??

So my girl (1 yr plus) and i are going to 2 school a few states apart. i know a longdistance relationship is just stupid and pointless, but i cant help wondering if anyone here has any experience in that transition from HS to college and would care to share.

thanks guys

that happened to my friend. he took it pretty hard but got over, eventually she finished and moved back to where he was going to school and they got married

yeah me and my girlfriend go three hours away from eachother. it is tough, but with instant messages and phone and visits whenever i can, it can work. but you both have to really want it. if you are not sure if you want to make the sacrifice, i dont think it is worth all the effort. hope that helps man

It works out if you want it to. You need to know that it's NOT easy. My girlfriend lives in Toronto, I live in Vancouver. It can be done.

just take a break for the year. it's not worth all the time and effort.

it's been working pretty well for my friend laura. her guy is out in colorado. so it's from vermont to there. but she visits him every month, or he comes back here.

takes a LOT of work

yeah i've been dating tyler (1080plp) for over a year, and yeah, it has been rough but we make it work. right now he is a six hour drive from me, but free cell to cell minutes help cut down phone costs, and its nice cause we talk online a lot. we both have webcams which makes it nice when you can simply see their face for a minute. but i will warn you, the transition from high school to college is a tough one..

we dont live in different states, just different cities...it sucks ass, but im close enough that she can come say hi or vise versa every other weekend or so.

Last year I was a senior in high school and my chick went away to college, It worked out ok, few fights and whatnot from the tension it causes. Gotta check yourself about being with other girls alot more carefully, but I'm a freshman and she's a sophomore now and we're still doing good.

to add to that, i am in college and my girlfriend is in high school...oooooiieee.

I have definitely close to 6 or 8 friends here who have boyfriends back home and they haven't had problems at all (except my roomate, he's become a skank, but it's entertaining). If you want it to work it'll work. I also know of people who broke up before college, got here for a while, and decided it was dumb to break up and got back together. Really all this hype about not being able to stay faithful is all just that: hype. Luckily I have a g/f here at school, but we're done in 3 weeks so now it's gonna be different cause we're not at school together, good luck man.

good luck is all i have to say. lot's of trust will be key.

If you trust her and want it to work then it will. If you can't trust her you are going to constantly be wondering and getting into fights. My girlfriend and I have been dating 2 1/2 years and 2 of those years have been long distance (6 hours away) and we have no problems. Free long distance is key though.
