Senior Physics Project Ideas!!!

For my physics class (high school senior), we have to build make something. It can be anything. Some kids make sterling engines, some kid made a radio a few years ago...and so on. I need NS to give my group some ideas for a project. Something sick.

Where i was going was that if it is something like a trebuchet that everyone else makes, it has to be extra sick. If we make a trebuchet, it has to be able to launch a bowling ball a hundred yards....

Make a big ass Popsicle stick bridge!
 
yep...hundred yards...we were thinking about trying it, but realized we couldnt do that...

and for a popsicle bridge, i cant remember the exact weight, but it has to be able to hold a shit ton of weight. the teacher's nuts. maybe build a steel frame then cover it with popsicle sticks...fool the fucker. haha
 
You would be surprised what popsicle stick bridges can hold. These people in my physics class made a small one and it held like 500lbs and it only weighed like 200 grams. Shit was ridiculous.
 
build something or use something that can launch ping pong balls across the room. Then calculate the speed that it leaves the launcher at. Then write a program (i dont know if you or your high school has Matlab or something similar) that tells you what angle to fire it at in order to get it in a cup at x,y distance away and it should land in the cup.
 
yes that was my bridge lol beastly builder right hear... suprised the crap out of me cause we wernt even trying to to make it that strong.... but fun thing you could do i potato canon real simple and a lot of fun
 
haha we did the bridge thing too.. but we ended up doing it a couple days before it was due and just drinking beer the whole time we built them.. mine held 250 lol
