Semester Credits

Hey collegiate NSers,

What's the most credits you've taken during a semester? I'm looking at taking 18 next fall, which is 6 classes.

What are your experiences with taking a bunch of credits? I feel like I would be able to handle it pretty well, as I have taken 15-16 the last two semesters with no problems and all A's/claim but I'd like to hear your guy's feedback.

to avoid having to stay an extra semester, my senior year i took 19 in the fall and 22 in the spring. like Hugo, they were some of my better semesters academically, but I honestly didn't have much of a life

Okay well all I really do right now is rock climb, workout, and do school work so my social life won't really be affected too much ahahah

If this is true go for it! I have a feeling you'll thank yourself later. The most I've taken is 20 and don't regret it. Actually was one of my higher semester GPAs.. Probably because I knew I had to buckle down.

Easily doable. I took 19 credit semesters and worked 25-30 hours a week every fall so I could take a lighter load in the spring during ski season. I'm sure my grades suffered a bit, and some weeks I had literally no free time, but I also graduated in 7 semesters instead of 8, saving myself about 6k, so I'd say it was worth it.

The fact that all of your classes are 3 credit classes kind of sucks though. I don't think I ever had more than 5 classes except maybe once. You'll probably have a little more work to do because of that.

im taking 16 this semester and have skied 45 days since january, so its not hard. i took 18 two years ago and am taking 18 again next fall (but then i only have to take 9 in the spring to graduate)

Have taken 16-18 every semester except this one (only 13) which is awesome because I got to ski on Mon/wed/fri. Now that the season is over I'm really bored though. Guess I should start climbing again.

Really depends on the class. If I took that many credits worth of my lab sciences I'd hate it, but if they didn't have a lab component I think it would be fine. And every school is different with what they count as a credit in my opinion.

ya my 21 credit semester had 3 classes with labs... it was hell

Once took 25 credits so I could graduate a year early. Nice thing was they were all for my major so it was pretty easy. Ended up with 4 a's and 2 b's.

i took six classes for 18 credits this spring, and it wasnt a big deal until i tore my acl. then it just became to much so i ended up dropping one after doing poorly on a test. Now my grades are better so i made the right choice. Just hope you dont get hurt!

im in like 27 or something stupid. A bunch of extra hours for labs. This is just a regular amount for me too.

Im curious as to how many Peter is taking.

Aight thanks guys, I'm going to go for it. It'll help down the road considering I'm double majoring so I'll be in undergraduate school for at least 5 years. Hopefully I can bring that down to 4 if I do it right these next few semesters.

And I'll try and take some summer classes eventually. Though I make all my money for school working in the summer so I'd have to find a job that I could work around my school schedule.

I don't know where you're studying, but your icon makes me think it's somewhere in MN. It may not be worth the money to take summer classes. When I went to UMD every credit you took over 13 per semester (up to 20) was tuition free. Take 13, pay for 13; take 16, pay for 13; take 20, pay for 13. This meant that taking a few credits in the summer was way more expensive compared to the effective per-credit rate I paid during the spring and fall.

I go to MNSU, I'm pretty sure you pay for the credits up until 12, then after you're only paying for 12 no matter what.
