Self Surgery

WHAT. THE. FUCK!!!!!!

First of all, if you're asking for surgical advice on Newschoolers, A SKIING FORUM, you should NOT be doing this. Are you fucking serious? Why in the fucking hell would you ask a bunch of 13 year old advice on how to do surgery, LET ALONE ON YOURSELF. WITHOUT ANESTHETICS!!! Feeling pain is not a problem, it can be suppressed. NOT feeling pain is — it's your body telling you you're doing something wrong and that you might want to stop it. In this case you have ZERO clue about what you're doing, and to not be feeling pain during your procedure is potentially lethal because you could seriously fuck something up and not notice.

To top it off you can't even see the location you're operating on clearly, and by straining your neck to improve visibility you will be using muscles and the skeletal structure in that area — meaning the position of the systems you are operating on, will not be the same as the position they are in when you are relaxed. Clearly you do not want to be in a situation where you close yourself up (if you can even get to that point, which I bet my left nut you won't) and realize you've tightened the screws too much, altered the position of your bones/muscles/nerves etc. etc. Being uncomfortable in that case would just be a luxury, you'd be looking at a whole different set of more serious problems, guaranteed.

I can also guarantee you that you will get infected. All these kids talking about warts, they don't have to cut into the skin and compromise the immune system to reach their objective because their issue is with the outer layer of the skin. Yours, is quite a bit more serious than that. While I do understand surgeries can be expensive, I promise you if you end up doing this you will pay more to fix your mistakes in the future than the surgery itself. Let's say you save $50,000 doing this, but get infected: a trip to the hospital and a couple surgeries plus drugs and the costs of staying in the hospital for at least a week due to the infection would be $150,000, $200,000. (I'm just guessing numbers here, but you get my point) Bottom line, you may think you're saving money but you will pay for it in the future, and it will cost a TON more.

I know insurance companies in the states are a bitch and a half and they're pretty much Satan's long lost brother, but going through with this just to avoid paying is NOT worth it trust me. If it's really serious see if you can get family & friends to pitch in, or maybe even see if universities/colleges would do it for you as a "case study" or something. There is always another way and I'm more than happy to help you brainstorm ways you could do this, but please don't do this yourself.

And to all the people encouraging this guy, fuck you. He has a serious problem and is desperate for a solution to the point where he's willing to operate on himself. Do you not see the potential consequences of your actions?

It's not exactly the same situation but it could be compared to someone threatening to commit suicide or go shoot up a school online — you have no way to tell how serious the person is about his claims, and by encouraging dangerous behaviour you may indirectly be responsible for the consequences of his/her actions. Of course it may not stand up in court that way (although if there was a way to prove such cases, I'm sure it would) but morally it is wrong and I sure hope you people understand that.

The internet is a fun place and a lot of people can't/don't back up what they say on here, but you never know who the 10% that will are and you have to account for that when you're online.

hahaha Exactly what I was thinking, you are asking a skiing forum witch consists of 13 year old kids that don't know a shit about anything your doing. And your and idiot for even thinking, do you know how sterile the whole room has to be? I don't think febreze will cut it dude. And we haven't even started to talk about the tools, and then the fact that your taking a fucking plate out of your body. Just stop

this reminds me of an episode of 1000 Ways to Die where a redneck dude uses a shopvac to give himself liposuction but then died cuz he was a fuckin retard.

one, how do you go about "ripping them out a couple millimeters? they are inside you. two, to manufactures spec? you also better hope they dont take a special bit

etienne i know you are a crazy mother fucker, and i salute you. please video tape this and upload it for some ad revenue~

Well what kind of disinfectant would you recommend? I'm assuming that my chances of infection are going to be during the healing part not the actual surgery itself since that will only take 20 or so minutes. The incision itself will be closer to my shoulder and only about 5 cm long and a few mm deep, I don't think there's any major blood veins or anything important there either, correct me if I'm wrong though.

For the patch work I'm gonna butterfly bandage this puppy up and go crazy with the disinfectant before I close it up. Then I'm gonna but a piece of gauze over it and use that medical duct tape to seal it shut. Does this sound good?

And Scott, you are the holiest of holy figures of this century, every glass you touch becomes a holy grail and your house is the Temple of Solomon

no reason to. better to have people tell him to seek out proper medical advice than have his thread deleted and have him go do it. and there's nothing wrong with what he's doing in my opinion. if someone wants to tighten up a few screws in their shoulder so be it. maybe he'll tighten the loose ones in his head while he's at it.

I've cut out planters warts on my feet and removed a few stitches, but cutting yourself open, torquing screws and stitching yourself back up is some next level shit

Are you saying that you can't ski with scoliosis? Most people that have it, they don't even notice and wouldn't know without the doctor telling them. I had it for 3 years, was fine. I'm still fine.

If anything goes wrong, remember, you'll end up in the hospital anyway and everyone will think you're a massive dipshit.

if i were you i would think long and hard about the pros and cons of self surgery and the pros and cons of going to a doctor. i would not listen to 98.7% of the people who posted here. i was also wondering about your parents? have you told them/going to tell them/tell them after???

after reading the whole thread, seeing other posts and OP's posts, i would not recommend this. Please seek professional medical help.
