Self protection question for the older ns comunity

I got rifles and shotguns and im 16, but no handguns because here in Canada laws are pretty stiff for the permit.

Remington 870 express 12ga (skeet and waterfowl)

Tikka T3 Hunter .243 (deer)

Stoeger Uplander 20ga (small game)

Browning Cynergy (my skeet baby :) )

Browning A-Bolt 30-06 (moose)

Tradition .50 black powder rifle

and a couple more i cant remember....

And they are all locked in a 500lbs case, so their purpose is ONLY for hunting.

hmmmmm....... where is anti gun NS? funny how when there is only one or two pro gun posters NSG goes ape shit on their ass, but now that there is a WHOLE thread leaning pro gun.... where are the anti gun people? scared?

for the record i dont own a gun. but when i move out depending on where i move its definitely a possibility......

My dad used to shoot an 1100 until he switched to a Black Eagle. Such a sick auto.

Browning Sweet Sixteen - I will never switch to another gun but this one.

Word for meat. Nothing like some luscious quail, pheasant, or deer. Beef is overrated.

dont worry hahaha im here :P.

so wait. you have been held up twice, so you bought a gun for protection. but you keep it in your car.... isnt that sort of like having sex, but leaving condoms in the car? defeats the purpose.

I do hear what you're saying, and i think you have a good point. Having street smarts is important, it doesn't mean it will save you, because anyone can be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it can minimize the chances.

It's not my place to say whether or not it was Kirsten's time to go, deep down i know she was at peace with it... but what i do know is that her life has not gone in vain, that the people who knew and loved her feel an even greater responsibility to carry on that which she will no longer be able to do.

As for segregation... the realities of our world create a need for realism when we're looking at what is possible. The naivety that you're talking about, i think... stems from a desire to move too much forward too fast. Thinking things are possible when really it might take a long time for those possibilities to be actualized. It doesn't mean we can't start taking steps towards that. The racism that exists is real and it's based on a lot of history and a lot of injustices that need to be confronted.

My hope is that instead of feeding the violence, instead of feeding our fears and staying segregated we start looking at the structures that create the way we look at ourselves and each other, so we can begin to restructure these things and create more understanding and less fear.

If I ever run into money Ill invest in a few of these for post apoctaliptic scenarios (zombies, nuclear holocaust, collapse of civilization... etc)

because you never know....

iv been held up once... and if i take my gun out of my car i can b arrested for brandishing a firearm in public. and yes if somone held a gun to my head again i would kindly give up my wallett... canceling credit card is not very hard and im pritty shure his trigger finger is faster thann me drawing and racking my wepon.

so then why did you buy one..... this has always been my point. they dont serve any purpose

in his car?

as for at home. if you are storing it properly it should be locked up unloaded somewhere. chances are by the time you have it out loaded and ready. the guy has either taken what he wants, or found you.

i can almost understand it in a case like yours, living on your own (i assume you are) but the minute small children come into play i dont think there should be any gun access. handguns at least

but i stand by my earlier statement. it would take forever to get to, load, etc. then you would have to find the guy. if he hadnt already found you. he was there first, and chances are he would have an easy time shooting you, since hes already in your house. meanwhile the moral implications of you shooting him might make things more difficult

this is true. and someone like YOU is a RESPONSIBLE gun owner. but there are way to many irresponsible people out there

I have the following:

Glock 23 .40 auto w/ night sights (carry gun)

Taurus pt111 9mm

Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm

Taurus 24/7 pro .45 ACP

Romanian WASR 10 (AK 47)

Taurus Raging Bull 454 Casull

and a variety of hunting rifles and shot guns.

I have my CCW and am also an NRA certified firearm safety instructor.

word. thats what all the people i know in idaho do, go camp take a gun and a couple boxes of bullets, and shoot whatever we can find we dont need.

makes for a great time

if someone holds a gun at your face really close you can slap the gun away faster than they can pull the trigger. True fact, not saying to try it in a real situation but just somethin to think about

I'll sure be picking one up when I get some cash, Springfield .40 Sub-compact. The thing that people fail to realize is that when you take Concealed Weapons courses, It teaches you how to NOT use your gun, if you get what I'm saying. I would never get a .22 as a personal fire arm though, to weak, If your gonna have to shoot, shoot to kill.

im 15 and have my own glock 21 as well with a liscence and all. i had to take a ton of tests and my stepdad to to buy the gun because im not "legally" allowed to own a gun yet,

i only use it in a range though i would never even take it out of my house

mine was like 649 how much was yours man, did you buy it on the street or from a legit shop

You've bought yourself a quality gun that's for sure, Im not sure where the jamming comment came from but that's absurd.

Although I am against CCW sometimes the situation could warrant it. But in my opinion if the situation in your area gets that bad you should probably think about relocating somewhere else (if you can affordably do so). If you're going to have one get out to the range and learn to un-holster and snap shoot with great accuracy. No matter how much training you have there is no way to train for surprise situations where you get jumped from behind...Hopefully you never need to use the gun.

This by the way is coming from a hardcore gun nut...

im gonna buy a hand gun when i turn 21, legal age in NY

or ill get an AR15 or AK just to have one

when i worked at mcdonalds when i was 16 this grime janitor guy offered us glocks for mad cheap because they already had bodies on them haha

they will kill you if you DONT give them the money. waving around your piece is just gonna encourage them to shoot you

VSS vintorez, sniper rifle that shoots subsonic rounds. Russian speacial forces uses it, very illegal in Canada, dunno about the states.

I can see a gun causing more trouble than it would save. Especially carrying it on you while hitting the town. Basically, if you pull that gun, you sure as Hell better be ready to use it, and that's not something I'm positive I could do. Maybe that's something that comes with gun training but who knows. Besides, I don't live in a gnarly city where I'd need one anyways. The only time I've gotten beefed and shit was at bars where I wouldn't be able to have one anyways. I'd like to get a knife though (some sick switchblade or wing blade) but you can't go to most bars with those either so I don't know.

yeah probably, my dad has a silenced .22 pistol, its legal in VA. I think my home state might be more trigger happy than texas.

if people want to stop gun violence, the problem is how easy it is for a guy to go around buying one gun a day, and then selling them all for a huge markup to criminals. unfortunately I have no idea how to stop that.

this is a huge claim but i have only shot rifles in my life: a .22 an M1 Garand style rifle (not sure what it was exactly .303?) but it had the recoil of a cannon in my hands. the third rifle ive shot with is the M16 A2..which is definitely sweet as hell with little recoil.. I've hit targets about five feet tall, three feet wide or so at 500 yards w/o a scope with the M16 which is a sweet feeling.. if you can afford to go to a range and shoot something similar to that, its awesome to practice breathing patterns, sight alignment as well as different firing positions for sharpshooter style fire without a scope.
