i just had my first day working at j crew today and it totally sucked ass, i thought I could work retail again but fuck that, its soooo boring and tedious and lame.

i would really like to be self-employed...what are some good ways? i dont need to make a ton of money, just need extra cash for food, clothes, weed, and skiing

things I am open to:

learning to use some type of computer program

taking a class

investing a little money

things i am not open to;

dealing drugs

whoring myself out

working long hours

I make websites and graphics for family and friends for a little extra cash. One year I made $1500 or so from a bunch of odd website related things I did. I've also completed all of my school community service hours making websites and such.

to make a go of being self employed, you basicly need to work long hours. maybe invest in a tractor with a plow (a small cheaper one) and plow driveways. or in the summer you can make mad scrilla doing landscaping. are you looking for an actual career choice?

starting a business is hard work, you gotta break through a lot of barriers.

also a really good idea. my brother did the same thing and at like 17 years old he was making profesional websites and stuff. if your less than proffesional you can just charge way less then competators.

working long hours is usually how u make a lot of money. they dont call it work because its easy. everyones got to start somewhere just find something that you like to do and find a job in that field that will make time go faster. I got a job at a golf course and its so easy and i make good dough. i enjoy golf so that helps. Find something you enjoy and ur half way there.

I used to buy brand named skateboards wholesale and sold them for like 40 bucks a piece. Like i would buy 10-20 at a time for like 25 bucks a piece tops, and sell them at skateparks and stuff. Even if you sold them for 45 thats still 10 dollars cheaper than skateshops and they were usually good decks.

Or you could buy blank decks in bulk for super cheap and sell them for like 25-30.

either way you could make like 20 dollars a deck.

well since you are asking newschoolers for entrepreneurial advice, i suggest you keep it simple and open a lemonade stand.

get creative, look for an oppertunity, be hungry and start something that fills a need. That's the basics to this whole business thing.

oh sorry, I am an idiot. forgot to mention the key part of this

i am not looking for a career. i just need to make some money before I go back to college

lol yeah that would be great but I need some money and/or a big loan and thats kinda more of a career choice

but I would love to do that when i am older

If you have a a hobby try and turn that into a small business like my one friend really liked making movies so he went to all the high school sports games and made movies each week and sold them to parents. The big money was in football but I don't know how old you are. Another thing that I was always interested in was becoming a DJ and seeing some of these mobile party dj's it doesn't look like it would be that hard if your decent with music.
