Selective Service Issue

I turned 18 about a week ago. Today in the mail comes a little notice from the Selective Service saying I have to register with them so they can have my name to draft just in case. So i recycled it before my parents saw it. So for those who have turned 18, have any of you just not registered? Do they keep sending you shit asking you to register? Do they go as far as calling you to make sure...?

yeah if you dont register after like 6 months or something, then the police call you or go to your house. After a year of them reminding you I think you can go to jail but I'm not sure on that.
 
im almost positive you need to have filled it out to be able to apply to college or some shit like that. just fucking do and get it over with cause trust me you will have to do it eventually... there is just no way around it
 
Wow if that is true about the college stuff i will prolly have to, otherwise i was thinking about pulling a little civil disobidience thingy
 
i know at our school there was some form you could get to be excused from having to fill out that form..
 
just do it, a draft is highly unlikely considering all the gaurdsmen there are, just do it and support your country, and please no one say again "im going to canada because i wont pay back what my country gives me"
 
im all against the war in iraq and wrongful fighting and oppression. but you should just fill it out. if i had to actually protect my country against a legitimate threat i would. im not sure about you, but i would fill it out. you will be fined if you dont. and possible jail time eventually. i wouldnt fight the system by avoiding filling out this legislation. if you really dont like something, mail in a letter, stage a rally, do something productive.
 
id just do it it seems like it would be so annoying to keep getting notices...

and this new spell checker in Firefox is fucking amazing there is no reason for bad spelling on NS now!

yep. that happened to my friend, he forgot to fill it out (not "forgot", he really did lol) so he got a letter in the mail saying if he didnt send it with in the next two weeks they WOULD arrest him and fine him up to $250,000. just fill it out.
 
everyone fills that out when they are 18 (guys, that is). its not some special thing. just fill it out, you can do it online in 5 minutes.
