Seattle U

I just got into Seattle U. I was wondering if anyone on ns goes there and can tell me what it is like. How are the academics and the social scene?

thanks

You dont think about these things before you pay the application fee and take the time to write out the essays?~

powderhound100 and i both go to SU. Academically the school is well respected, especially the business school and the nursing school. Depending on your program you will likely be challenged pretty regularly. As for social life, SU is a fun and social place but if you're looking for a deep party scene like UW's you won't find it here. There's a lot to do in the Capitol Hill neighborhood though and if you enjoy music or the arts you will be in a good place.

what are you studying?

if you need more detailed info definitely check out the college prowler book and feel free to PM me.

i go to saas so im directly acrosse from SU and we go around there for lunch. looks like a cool place and i know a couple people who go there that are tight.

I just got into Seattle U with the Campion scholarship, and I am super stoked on it.

I have heard that UW has a bad rep for being a commuter school, is that the feel at Seattle at all?

I personally would never go to Seattle U, PLU, UW, Evergreen State, or SPU for my undergrad. I hate living in cities.

sick, the campion scholarship is legit.

when you say bad rep for being a commuter school what do you mean exactly? Are you concerned about meeting people on campus? If that's the case only about 10% of the freshman class of any given year commutes. People do commute as it's cost effective but you'll still meet tons of people. i think the school is about a 1:1 outta state to in-state ratio.

however, if you want to meet pandas you will be disappointed to know that Jesuit tradition prohibits the inclusion of bears with visible signs mixed heritage

No I mean you pretty much just answered my question right there. I like the idea about having it be a good amount of out of state students (as I am from Boston), but the school seems awesome as a whole, I can definitely see myself going there.

Its not really a commuter school at all. There are a ton of people on campus, your required to live on campus your first two years (which I am trying to get out of because I want to live off campus next year)

I go to UW, and there are a lot of commuters, but the school is so big that there's tons of students living in the U-district, or at least all the cool people do. Capitol hill is kinda cool too i guess. It's a fairly different scene from UW tho. I don't really like it, but I can see how others would. Unfortunately capitol hill is filled with hipster filth, so if you go to seattle u, make sure you buy a gun.

I was an Honors student in the EWU Honors program and it was great cause it allows you to kinda personally meet professors. Don't know if ours is the same as Seattle U though... probably not.

the core honors program means that for about the first two years at SU you'll be taking a university structured path through your core classes with the same people. It's a cool program in that you are getting a very intensive education in the core and forming great relationships with your peers. A lot of my friends went through the core honors program and really enjoyed it.

As far as I know you don't have options regarding which core classes you take. I would HIGHLY recommend calling/e-mailing an admissions counselor and asking them some questions.

The core honors is kind of a hit or miss. Core honors classes are worth 4 credits instead of 5 so you can take more classes and experience more stuff or something. Personally I would not do core honors, but I am a business major, might be different for english or some shit.

Anyone that is visiting hit me up, I'll show you around, tell you whats up and could take you to a class or two if you wanted. Also if your coming by yourself you can crash on my floor for a couple nights if you want. And we could do some skiing to while your out here so you can check out the mountain.

haha, I wasnt saying English is shit. English or some shit, like english or philosophy or that stuff.

This time I was not purposely saying english is shit, not saying I havnt before or won't in the future, but this time I wasnt.

Yea you get the point.

I've been lazy and didnt get tickets to the common market concert. You going? I got tickets to slightly stoopid though,

no, i too have been incredibly lazy this week. didnt go skiing today either cause everyone else bailed...who studies anyways?

yea bailing on skiing is lame. Lets go tomorrow, you can take that girl out to dinner afterwards. Sky high tonight, booter tomorrow then a date after skiing. Sounds pretty good to me.

haha can't. the date is at 2, i have some TFA prep stuff at 4 and an interview at 5. unless you wanna leave at 4am to build.

I love chatting on NS. I don't think I'll ever physically talk to you again because it's just not as much fun.
