Seattle locals

Going this summer to meet up with my brother and I'm looking for suggestions for things to do and see. Already planned to go hiking somewhere, kayaking, and go to parts of Mt. Rhenier*. So besides those things, what do you suggest?

You should definitely try to get some tix to a sounders game. The atmosphere in Qwest field is flippin redic.

Might want to try and go out to the Peninsula see the Olympic Mtns and the Rain forest. If the surf is good, Westport or La Push can be descent.

Thanks man, I'll defiantly pass on the word to my brother about the olympic mnts and La push. And a Sounder's game at night sounds awesome, something about night games while on vacation completes the trip.

head up to the san juans. Roche harbor is my home away from home. but you can pick any of the islands, you can't go wrong. almost always sunny up there, just like paradise

Try to get a bike from someone. Best rides ever- -burke gilman to golden gardens. Watch the sun set, have a bonfire. Get drunk, and hit on randoms. Make sure they don't go to Ballard. If you have time to kill during the day, swing over to carkeek and wander around there for a while. -greenlake to alki. -burke gilman around the lake to microsoft, bus back via the floating bridge. -ballard locks, discovery park, golden gardens, in whatever order you feel like. -Start at Mathews beach, bike down the west side of the lake, and swim at every beach you pass. Theres a bunch of them and its a perfect flip flop kickin it kind of ride. Hipster clothing is essential.
My go to summer things are basically Golden gardens, Paseo sandwiches, alki, greenlake, and UW canoe rentals.

hit up hemp town if ur inta that. go chack out some camping around rainer ride some ferrys. maybe chaeck out bc if u have time frr that. downtown has a whole lot happenen with so called soulmates stabben eacothas scabulas. some great rap comes from seattle so knowmads concerts. yaaaaaa

If you're going to hit up Rainier, bring your skis and shred down from Camp Muir. Super fun run, and if you do it early enough, you get turns all the way back to the parking lot.

Sounds good guys, but for all the suggestions saying to kick it at the beach and longboard, I'm looking for more efficient things over leisure activities because this is probably going to be my only time out here. And Literature, that sounds great but my dad's going to be coming along and he doesn't ski. But we'll still get to hike around Rainear so it should still be fun and beautiful.

Hit up Safeco and watch a Mariner's game. We have a piss poor team but whatever its cool spot.

this, last weekend we beat the yankees, the stadium went wild. pretty fun. sounders games if you're into soccer.

The one that's an old section of on-ramp to the arboretum or swimming out from Madison Park beach to one of the towers and climbing the ladder up?

^^ That bridge jump sounds pretty cool, I'll have to ask my brother more about it. And neither of us really smoke but we are planning on spending a couple of days at rainier. And yeah I live in nj. Thanks for all the responses by the way.

So fun, when I was in high school in like 04 we used to BBQ up there with a mini weber and hang out all day, I think its a bit more patrolled now though.

If you go to pike place be sure to hit the french bakery. You'll be able to smell it from miles away. The 520 bridge has a bunch of road construction trucks on it but it should still be good because the workers don't really care.

I'm going out sometime during the week of august 7th. My next question is do you guys know any cheap & decent hotels/inns/whatever near Mt. Rainier or anywhere near/in Seattle. I've been looking at the Paradise Inn (http://www.mtrainierguestservices.com/accommodations/paradise-inn) but I'm looking for some more suggestions before I finalize the decision.

My other question is a result of me being a pretty lazy researcher but suggestions for cheapest air fare?

I do realize you guys are locals but maybe you heard of some cheap places to stay. Thanks again guys.

Very shallow off that actually, my friends have come up with mud on their shoes after a jump. The Montlake jump is almost safer...

Lots of good places for cliff jumping down here around Portland somehow, way more than Seattle it seems.

Near Mt Rainier, just camp. In Seattle, depends if you have a car. Outside the city is cheaper, and public transit isnt that bad, in that it at least has busses.

We're spending three days at Rainier so we've planned to camp for two nights. The rest of the trip we're spending it in areas outside and inside Seattle so I'm just looking for places to stay for that part of the trip. Public transport isn't a problem, which reminds me to look at a bus schedule. Thanks

And when I posted the question about airfares I forgot that expedia/price line have those flight + hotel combo deals so that problem is basically solved. But if you still have any suggestions for places to stay or things to do, toss them out here.
