I know therse alot of shaky, over exposed, too far away and maybe some unfocused shots, but what want feedback on is the editing and how I can make my edits look more intresting!:)

And another question for you pro filmers with a dslr, what picture style setting are you using, Ive heard pulling you sharpness all the way down and same with the colors, is this something i should do?

Thanks for the help!:)

That was pretty good!

The glidecams looked good, but were over used.

If you have a tripod try and use it to add variety, wich makes it more interesting to watch.

You could also have other angles, most of the shots are follow cams from behind and i got bored of them.

Also it was very long, and there is no need to put straight grinds in an edit, all they do is make it longer.

The colours were nice, and overall the edit had a nice and fun vibe to it!

I hope this helps!

sorry for dub post but read this

First of all what do you mean you're supported by Glidecam, how did you manage that? good job. Also sweet name at 0:43 ha ha.

Secondly I wouldn't have used that song, I would have chosen something original. Also I agree with you about overexposure, try to expose the snow rather than the rider, Also your white balance seemed pretty changeable, parts too cold, didn't notice anything too warm really though. Also there was way too much contrast at 2:45, not sure if it's your picture style like you said(also It seems that the general consensus is to use a flat as possible picture style, and just edit it in post) or if it was just the conditions. You also might want to think about how you're setting your shutter speed, and the effect it has on your shot, depending how you want it to come out.

It seemed like there was a lot that you could have taken out, and used less slow motion, as it was pretty long, and you could have used some lifestyle shots, instead of just constant skiing, although the wide range of features made it better. Also what bit rate did you export it at? it seemed like at times there was quite a lot of compression artefacts, but it might just be Vimeo. Also towards the end it started getting pretty shaky. And I would have kept out the shots around 8:00 that were foggy/overcast or at least colour corrected them quite a bit increasing the contrast. Could have done without so many film burns, if any. Sorry for using also so many times.

Thanks for feedback, and yea I have a tripod, next season I will hopefully progress much as hell, hahaBut yeah, I hate myself for only shooting with the glidecam all the time actually, I will trie to variate the shots and stuff next season!

And thanks for the thread, saw it some months back and couldn't find it! Thanks!

Thanks for feedback! Its pretty easy as you may can see (even we got sponsored) Just go to glidecam.com and send them a mail if they want to sponsor you and then they probably will offer you some demo versions (still in perfect conditions) I got a glidecam HD2000 for 349$!

I dont actually know what bit rate i was exporting at; i can only remeber that i set the quality to high in quicktime conversion..

BTW, will order the tiffen ND9 filters in the next days so hopefully no more overexposed footage from me,haha!:)

Oh, I figured they'd sponsor based on video ability, and yeah there's not a chance I'd get sponsored haha, was just interested. Pretty good deal, and yeah I'd try and get into more advanced settings for exporting.
