Searchbar Nazis

Yo some of you neeed to cool it on the whole searchbar thing. I know your 12 years old and you need something to do while waiting for your boner to grow back up so you can beat it to hentai.... but honestly, if everyone used the searchbar ns would have like 2 threads a day, so stfu, not all of us spend every waking minute on ns (i know we should but we have jobs and friends) and sometimes we miss stuff, and its appreciated when someone brings it up again. So unless its a Jiberish at Breck repost go play gnarshmallow while you wait for your 3 incher to rise.

Why? Threads go by so fast now its impossible to have a real discussion about any thing. If people would only post new content/ not ask stupid questions that have been answered or google could answer, NS would be a better place and less chaotic for all.
Just an explaination as to why people get mad aboutsearchbar, I geneerally don't. But may have to start because it is getting way overboard.

Well seeing as how I do not have a 3 incher that's waiting to rise, I find it perfectly okay to disagree.

The searchbar is necessary and I do say "searchbar" or "re-post" on the daily with good reason. It's frustrating to see various threads of the same content, because the discussion gets thinly spread over various areas. It's a lot nicer to have one main area of discussion for everyone to see and say all opinions.

The best solution is to say repost, with a link to the original post, IMO. That way, (if not deleted) all traffic can get channeled to the original thread. I don't think it's rude at all, in fact helpful. If I'm reposting something, I EXPECT and HOPE for it to be called out and deleted. I'm in the wrong. Multiple threads on the same topic are unnecessary and people don't need to start a new thread to voice their idea. A lot of people start new threads on old topics because they think they have a revolutionay idea or opinion that is more valid than someone else's.

WRONGGGG. You aren't entitled to think you can start new threads constantly to make yourself be seen or heard. It's truly so much more helpful to bump a thread from '03 to stir up discussion-- that way you're able to consider the older opinions and the newer ones.

Sure people make mistakes, but by saying searchbar isn't rude. It's a freakin' life skill to think before you speak, and maybe do a little research before you get all high and mighty. Noting this, I think people should take the extra minute to quickly search-bar their idea: you're only being asked to be made into a fool.

OVERALL the biggest problem with multiple threads is the extra weight is put on the Mods. Yeah a lot of you hate them, but they seriously do so much for this site and clutter shouldn't be on their list of things to do, yet it typically is. If people searchbarred, they'd be doing the mods a favor, and Heyyyyy maybe some of them wouldn't be so grouchy half the time then. Most of the mods I am friendly with aren't bad people at all, but the constant cleaning of the forums due to re-posts is ridiculous. NS is always upgrading to support as much content as possible, so we shouldn't drown it with an excess of threads.

I don't intend on stopping my rampage of "Searchbar" comments just because it pisses people of... um hello? This is NS. It's the summer. People are pissed off. What pisses me off it constant threads on the same topic. If you don't want to look like a n00b and get called out on it, then do yourself a favor a use the searchbar. It's there for a reason. If you don't then take the punch coming your way and don't whine about it.

Oh by the way, I still don't have a 3 inch dick, but if I did, I'd be wicked stoked to slap it in the face of anyone who disagreed with me.

I think it's pretty necessary to use the searchbar. It's called doing your research. If someone has clearly done their research (i.e. in Gear Talk), then it's rude to say searchbar. But if it's obvious that the poster hasn't done any research at all, hasn't put in any effort at all, then people say searchbar. It's not rude, it's just pointing them in the right direction.

That said, the whole thing is very different for other topics. I mean, if someone posts something where the last thread on that topic is ~12+ months old, it shouldn't be a problem. A lot can change in skiing in one year. In these cases, saying searchbar is just unnecessary.

It would be less of an issue if the Advanced Search was a little more prominently featured on the site.

This is all besides my point. Their is a BIG population of newschoolers that has lives and cannot catch all of the threads going by the 1st page of Ski Gabber, which is the only thing i check routinely. I mean i see great ideas and questions and then instead of discussion one or two people who have already seen it cry "searchbar", while others shar their opinion. If you've read something already, move along, and i dont mean you dont have to mention searchbar but some people are ASSHOLES about it. And if you expect someone to want to put in the effort to searchbar it, then you could and include the link to help him out, which is rarely done anymore.

well there is obliviously a middle ground to this. sure there is a good amount of threads that can be answered with SEARCHBAR, but alot of the time the questions asked, while similar, usually have a detail in them that hasnt been answered before, and they need specific advice.
the almighty searchbar on this site sucks. it hits only thread titles, barely. if one change was to be made to this site they should implement a new search function then there would be no excuse

Searching before making a thread is just good practice, seriously. If you can't find anything then post away.

Then if someone else knows that it is a repeat then they should post the original link!

Replying to threads with 'searchbar' is almost as bad as reposting a thread - they both don't add anything constructive..

So bottom line,

1. search before posting.

2. If you are going to call someone out for reposting then post the link in question otherwise that is equal douchebaggery.

It gets fucking annoying deleting 'how big does Saga fit', or 'xyz trailer just dropped' threads

i'm too lazy to searchbar, but why are some people on NS so sexist? maybe cus they havent started puberty and dont have an appreciation for girls.. but it is kinda sad. i was really expecting to read the "who left a computer in the kitchen" comment on this one.
