Sean Pettit Pro Model?

So I remember reading a couple articles that mentioned a Sean Pettit Pro Model ski in the works.

Any news/info on these anyone knows of?

If not, what do you guys think they will be, dimensions, rocker profile, etc.?

If he actually is working on a pro model it probably will be something like a hellbent, but with lower rocker and stiffer...

You mean like the seth pro? aha.

Sean probably won't get his own pro model because it would be to similar to the hellbent/seth pro.

No, nothing like the obsethed, obsethed is a very directional ski and I imagine that if SP actually gets a pro model it would be a ski that fits between Kung Fujas and HB, which obsethed doesn't imho since it has tons of taper and way too much difference in nose/tail-rocker.

fuck the hellbent flex pattern. make it same dimensions as an old hellbent but as stiff as an obsethed. but you're right that it should be lighter. K2 needs to get with the game and stop making such heavy fucking skis

im almost 100% sure they are not the same skis. seths actual skis would have a heap of metal in them, same deal with the boots. armada atheletes would have been on ak jj like skis for a while now, but most definatly even stiffer

Wouldn't surprise me. I know Jon and Durtschi both rode on wood core JO Pros during their first year. They were stiff as a rock.

There is going to be a petite pro model this year and it will probably have a waist width around the 120mm mark and more bi-directional than the Obsethed was. The same goes for the rocker pattern, more symmetrical of a pattern than the Obsethed. This is due to the type of skiing that Sean does, emphasizing and enabling him to do what he wants to do switch better.

Seth has said many times before that he skis on factory sticks, other than testing prototypes.

He is skiing powder/soft snow most of the time, as he is a film/photo skier, and skiing bad conditions makes for bad media results (within reason). He is also around 150#, so he is light, and obviously light and smooth on his skis. That is why he looks so good compared to the average guy "charging", not some magic sauce skis.

When Seth told me he skied the factory models, I thought he was bullshitting me. Granted, he's around my size (5'9"), but he's built like a brick and skis like a bomb. I would be amazed if anyone would charge that hard on such flexy skis. My skis are twice as stiff and I obviously can't ski half as well as they can...

fuckin no way. how the fuck? i only weigh likr 165 and when i skied them i was like WTF they were so soft

I dont understand how backslapping such a huge cliff on thoise skis would snap then clean in half

if this is true i have so much more respect than i did for him. and he was already my fav skier ever

Why does everyone think you need a stiff ski to charge? If you ski with any kind of finesse, stiff skis are not needed or wanted. Seth skis with magical finesse, is 5' 7" and skis the 189 pretty centered. He skis factory like skis most of the time I would assume. What I look for in a skis flex is the progressiveness of it. It needs to be really stiff under foot than progressively get softer towards the tip and tails evenly and a good amount.

I skied the other day on the best skies I have ever got the pleasure to ride. Line Mr Pollard Opus. That is the basis of the new Pettit pro model, it would be if those companies were smart. Seriously good ski, all round more stable than the Obsethed or Hellbent, floated just as good as the Ep Pro and far more variable snow friendly than anything I have ever skied.

yup i really think people think they need stiffer skis than they should. having a softer ski with more flex allows you to do alot more in terms of controlling the ski, especially in soft snow. having a 2x4 makes the terrain and snow control you more. it makes it hard to get the ski to behave how you want. with something softer, you control the ski and tell it what to do more. to an extent atleast.

i had a couple different models of stiff pow skis before i decided to try out EP pro's and i could charge shit so much harder on those. i have never skiied faster and harder than i have on EP's you just need to be comfortable with the ski flexing.

i foresee something along the lines of simlarity to the opus. a hellbent with taper in the tips and tails, less rocker, symmetrical flex, stiffer flex, small amount of camber underfoot, 125 waist max

best. also very interested to see what this ski is. could be my next purchase for SURE. as much as I love my hellbents, they really are a little toooo soft. Something stiffer and a little narrower would be SICK, especially if it was influenced by the one and only Mr. Petit

Well he's claimed he is on factory skis (other than prototyping season) many times on his blog, TGR forums, twitter etc. I doubt he is lying.

Like I said, think about where you have seen him ski, in movies it is almost always in pow or soft smooth snow, and only the good looking shots make the movie. You don't see him skiing bumped up refrozen chunder at a resort do you? Also, he is one of the (if not the) smoothest big mountain skier in history, his balance, snow feel and air awareness are unparalleled, which is why he has been on top for so long.

When you back-slap/hip-check, your skis are not taking the full weight of your body, so why would you need a 2x4? If you watch big mountain comps in shitty conditions, you'll see that people on softer/rocker skis do have insane tip flap when they are skiing fast through shitty snow, but their balance and balls make up for it. 2x4's like the RC112, old Squads etc, are more predictable in those conditions, but also require more strength/stamina to control and are not as good in soft snow. It just depends where you ski the most.

The reason I like super stiff skis is because when charging, they perform like a softer ski at casual speeds. In other words, it's compensation for the extra forces put on the ski.

Same reason I ride 191s despite being only 5'8." Having a ski that big and stuff feels shitty when I'm skiing runs at a resort, but when I'm charging off a 30ft cliff into a tight landing, anything shorter/softer feels like suicide.

I like the name... You can do it!!!

Seths skis are normal production. I know the guys at Retallack Cats and was going to buy Seths actual 2011/ 189cm obsetheds. Until I came to my senses and remembered the abuse he puts his gear through. And how can I compete... the skis would have been pissed at me everyday. They were the same flex. No different to the new Obsethed sticks I bought a week later.

I heard seth is developing a new ski that's close to the obsethed but with no tail rocker and a flattened tail (so not a twin tip).

Sounds like something that would fall into their Backside range of skis. Something between the Darkside and Sidestash?

I think this is the last year of the obsethed, so he could be making something to go into their back country line ^^

There's a whole lot of info about this in the donator's forum... Maybe you should all donate and get in there

You are all fools...Look what I found while watching the ordinary skiing. It makes sense that seths next ski would have flat tail, cause I have never seen him ski switch. But the amount of rocker still looks huuuge on other shots during the scene.

I think Petit will get a pro sig model that will replace the demotions of the obseth in the factory team series. But really that seth says that he skis factory standard skis,... BULLSHIT!!!! The top sheet design is from last year, soooo that tells a lot.

yeah a friend of mine talked to him and I guess he said he was thinking of switching from the factory team to the backside team but my friend was just like "seth you're still throwin dubs off massive cliffs, you belong on the factory team" hahahah
